Recall for GT4 3rd gear issue?

Is this GT4 specific or might it effect the 981 Spyder also? Mine is a Feb 2016 car.
Well all these cars use the same box. But we see it on the GT4 because these cars are used in anger... not sure if anyone has reported a failure like this on a Spyder... but i have read reports on this on 981S and GTS from the same time frame.av185 said:
At least it should cure the irritating typical GT4 whirring transmission noise at 50mph.
I think this is a characteristic of the cars.. due to reduced sound deadening. People talk about wanting visceral, raw cars and then complain when they hear the whirling, clunking and mechanical noises.TDT said:

Interesting
If your OPC classed it as a defect I assume they replaced your defective gearbox or at least stripped it and repaired it due to defective parts causing the noise?
Currently in hand.If your OPC classed it as a defect I assume they replaced your defective gearbox or at least stripped it and repaired it due to defective parts causing the noise?
Joker.

And what would you, as GT4 forum expert knowing more than Porsche suggest?

But a little bit of whine/noise from the transmission is a known ‘feature/characteristic’ of the GT4... and it was been referenced in a number of press reviews.
Might be more prominent in some cars vs others or more or less perceptible from one person to another. Some people haven’t noticed it because they are used to lost of car noise, some people might be very sensitive to it.
As GT4RS said… if was a defect at the time. wouldn’t your OPC have replaced yours already?
All that said ... it is possible you might have another issue....

Reported on Rennlist..
"FYI - car back from the dealer... apparently there is a technical bulletin on GT4s about a common failure of the oil separator unit (subsequently re-designed / upgraded by Porsche) resulting in a whining loud high pitched engine sound in the cabin at mid/higher revs (4,000 and above in my case).
If you have noise and your oil air separator part # is 9A110704200 or 9A110704201, then it needs upgrading to 9A110704202"

OPC has confirmed that my car is one of those that requires a new gearbox and has ordered one accordingly.
Excuse my ignorance, but it was mentioned somewhere about the diff being part of this recall, surely they are two different parts and the original diff will stay in place when the new gearbox is fitted?
Additionally, should I be enquiring about the oil separator as mentioned above?
