Main reason to flip it is its a auto.
That would be the only problem I would have with one. Otherwise they are truly epic.

I see them as a four-wheeled superbike as that's the kind of sensory experience you get in one and the way they'll be best used - sunny weekends and track days cool

YesTaffy have a few very noisy , manual cars , and need earplugs ( as one makes 132 db ) but my road Porches sadly are my Daily drivers , hence needed for long trips to Le Mans etc .... Romo that spec is EPIC

Mate has one , loves it but no phone call as noisy, not so sure lang trips may be tedious
It's a full on sportscar and meant to be noisy and in a good way. If you want to make business calls in your car get a hush chauffeur driven .stretch limo. I love mine to bits and the most exciting modern Porsche I've driven.. Sensory overload !!
Souds like your mate is already making excuses to flip it.
They are really not noisy unless you are at max attack. In which case you won’t be taking phone calls. I have also done a handful of 3 hour motorway journeys and they are as comfortable as any modern Porsche GT - a fair amount of tyre noise and switch off the sports exhaust as it can drone on a steady motorway run.

The noisy thing has been totally overblown. Or an excuse to flip.

I think it is an epic little car, well little by modern standards. The pdk is brilliant, totally not missing a manual gearbox in this particular car. Just been out for an enthusiastic drive with my wife in her RS:

Great pair of Porsches Andrew. Your wife's 997.1RS is in the very best colour and the PTS I would have picked if offered it on my 4RS. Still hasn't sunk in what a masterpiece the Porsche GT Dept have created in the 4RS. Truly a car greater than the sum of its parts and feels so compact compared to the 992GT3/RS .
I've got my first track day in it next Saturday with the PCGB Oulton Park day. Can't wait !

You will love it Taffy! I did a track evening at Donington last week, it started dry, got damp, then very wet. The car was so balanced and communicative, really inspired confidence.

Just got back from a quick 55 mile trip around the block with my wife. Another point worth making is how superb the ride is on a mixture of A and B road. The damping and body control is so finely judged especially considering the 100/140Nm/mm F/R spring rates and only slightly firmer than my 718GT4 Manual.

I Havent driven the car much as I got the flue.

But Taffy66 is spot on imho ! !

I would have picked Papaya Orange if possible, I asked, and begged my OPC if possible (as the collor was not on the PTS list) , they tried en did their best; but NO from Stuttgart.

So I took the Oak Green, uttelry pleased by it.

Stupid question but had anyone fitted go pro with good results for track days?

I have ordered a RAM mount for the cage bar just behind the seats near the roof lining. It is a 2 inch diameter bar so my existing Go Pro mount is too small.

Then there is the camera setting. I have a Hero 7 Black. It has some things you can play with but basically it doesn’t feel like it zooms in enough and I don’t know how to make it adjust exposure. So you end up with lots of footage from the cabin but what you see through the windscreen is all bleached. Photo below, when the camera was mounted on the cross member so a bit further back than I want.

Any experiences?

I use one of these mounts:

With one of these to lift the camera up ( GoPro 10 )

Works well enough

For Hero 7 I use these settings… easiest to configure via the GoPro Quik app.. you can also use the app to do a preview and make sure the camera is set how you like if at the start of the day.

EV Comp is the setting to take note of and you have to enable pro tune to be able to set it.
Also turn off the hypersmoothing… as this gives the weird side-to-side gimbal effect.

For mount, I use a superclamp mounted to the bar…. As per…

BUT ….I’m not sure this will work in the 4RS, as there isn’t much clearance to the top of the airbox cover…
So in your case I’d try the cage mount you’ve ordered or go with the suggested clip as per MogUK… just have to probably zip tie it to make sure it doesn’t come undone or go soft with temp.

I also use the Flat6 motorsports mount that sits on the silverbar behind the drivers seats, works with my 718 GT4, assume RS has the same bar. It's cheap but I got done over on customs charges, think the charges ended up being more expensive than the actual product.

I use a GoPro hero11 black, see footage from Bedford I recorded previously @1080p 60fps. Believe the key thing with the go pros is to change the "spot metering", so that the camera always remains at the same exposure when looking at the track.

Pretty cool video on the 4RS, including walkthrough of typical Manthey track setup of the car, 100% standard OEM hardware: Ride heights, cambers, toe and aero.

It’s a lovely car, we did a holiday together down to the south of France, though she doesn’t daily it - because she spends a lot of time at the horse yard.

Great lap by Misha. Interesting that they've divulged the Manthey geo settings on fully 100% stock parts. I would have expected more negative camber F&R and maybe 0 toe up front. Also would have thought the pressures need to be slightly higher for typical UK tracks.
I suppose it was set up specifically for the Nurgburgring with its bumps and dips and would be a more aggressive setup for smoother tracks.
Debating on whether to get the geo checked before Saturday's PCGB Oulton day based on what the factory toe setting was on the car in the video.

They are happy to share, because:

- All Porsche dealers now have access to the info…
- GT4 platform has been out for long enough that the range of setting is well known… so it’s then really down to measuring equipment and knowledge how how to best achieve the settings.
- It was never a secret in the first place… just a bit of an internet myth. If you actually asked them direct as a customer… what did you put on my car… they always tell you. Responses from Intermediaries might be a little different.

As for checking that the car is actually straight before you track it…. Absolutely!

Just saw the link on Rennlist for the full GT4 RS Manthey kit.. I love everything about it. Maybe I'll send a letter to Santa to see if he still remembers me by Xmas.
