Another unhappy member of the Pushed Back Club here.

I’ll be considering whether to cancel my order, get my deposit back, find a nice used 981 GTS and save myself 35-40 grand.
Have you seen the restored GTS? Not accident related, just made to be factory new again.

you could eat your dinner on the underside of it. Mint....and, as you say, save yourself £40K. You could buy a Cayman R with the savings - along with the 981 have two for the price of one!

That is a fabulous thing. But why sell it? It must have cost the owner a ton to get it into that condition.

I actually think they are good value compared to what else you can buy at that price point. Things have moved on since 2014, these days a basic Ford Fiesta will cost you £23,000.

When I ordered my BGTS 4.0 It was gonna cost me close to £80k with the spec I wanted, with the delays I opted for a used BGTS 3.4 PDK at the start of this year as we wanted to tour the Uk in something a little more comfortable than what I usually drive, I ended up with a nicely specced 65 plate car with 20,000 miles for just over half what the new one was going to cost me.

I never got to drive the new 4.0, I ordered a new GTS when I was turned down for a 718 Spyder pdk so always felt I was getting second best. I much prefer my current car to the 981 Spyder and 911 GTS/2 that I previously owned and I questioned what spending the extra £40k on the new car would give me over what I have currently other than allowing me to spec the car I wanted but even that has been taken away now, after a few weeks of driving the 981 I actually cancelled my new car order.

In a GTS model, visually I think the 981 is the better looking car, certainly from the front, it looks much more purposeful, subjective but I think the front end of the GTS 718 looks meh, the front bumper just looks too plain, as said I have not driven the 4.0 so can't compare but I really like the peaky characteristics of the 3.4 motor , it sounds superb and is eager to rev, coupled with the pdk box it's a hoot on back roads, unlike the 3.8 / manual in the Spyder which was more like a big lazy diesel and used to really frustrate me.

even the boring stuff is a bonus, it only costs me £28 a month for road tax and on a steady run It always cracks close to 40mpg, I have seen as high 44mpg the day I collected it on the 200 mile journey home and over the last 7 months of touring with swmbo I am almost ashamed to say my average is in the 30's .

Not sure now I would change for a 718 GTS but if a nicely pdk Spyder came up that would maybe be a different story.

Well my salesman checked, mine is still due to be made in October. I’ve got full leather and burmeister.
That's good news. Fingers crossed for you it stays that way!

At least with my delay I can put more aside and the weather will be better etc.

I am in the pushed back club. My car was originally scheduled to leave the factory on 15th September but was then told it was pushed a 'few days' rolleyes . 'My Porsche' login however still says stage 3 'scheduled for production', however my OPC says my car is in fact built and in the factory compound waiting for shipment which is currently taking 3 - 4 weeks....???

Whilst I am still really looking forward to my new 4.0 CGTS, especially as its my first ever brand new Porsche; under the current financial climate it now feels a bit crazy to have just sold my 981 CGTS, (which I loved but had owned for 4.5 years), to then spend an additional £40k on the new one in a pretty identical spec and same colour..... confused

Mine is also supposed to be at the port awaiting shipment, but I do have a chassis number now and it’s at stage 5, so I do believe them.

Kind of feel the same, but will plan to keep this a long time, so feels a little less foolish.

Will keep my daily longer now which partially offsets this “extravagance”!

Where does this info come from, your dealer or from the Porsche website. Thanks

I still cannot fathom why mine is now subject to a three/four month delay. That feels significant to me.

The salesman that took my deposit 3 months ago with a ‘12 month’ wait time admitted to me that he hadn’t yet had a single allocation this year. I had just cancelled. He said he would have been surprised to see a car in two years.

So what, two year wait list for a car that perhaps comes without some options, with price rises driven by inflation and also interest rate hikes…? I wanted it fully loaded so by then what, 90k?

Nah.
Saving 35k and getting a 981 B GTS seems like a good move to me now. And the loan for the balance was a personal loan at 3.2%. Ok buying a £45k car that’s 7 years old is scary, but with full OPC and just 18k miles it’s almost mint and actually with some work soon will be.

And the noise. hehe

When you say your build was scheduled for Oct, was this showing as Phase 3 (your vehicle is now scheduled for production) on the Porsche website?

That’s what mine is showing as, so might be in same boat!

Just stage 2. I'd been told the build slot was for October by the dealer and to get my spec locked in mid September. That was done late August. I emailed them to confirm the finance after the last round of interest rate increases and was told then.

My October build slot which has not been put back (leaving the factory on the 26th) spec locked at the beginning of July. So I don’t think your slot was ever going to be built in October otherwise your spec would have also locked in July.

And it’s nothing to do with actual spec as I ticked pretty much every box

I should probably push a little harder to see what has actually happened then.

Thanks!

So I placed a deposit on a BGTS IN April ‘21.
Earlier this year I was given an initial allocation slot for delivery late April ‘22- my configuration was locked .
Delivery was deferred again .
On the 8th Sept,I was told the car was scheduled for delivery on the 30thSept.
Today I learnt it has now been pushed back to November .
So far,my original specification remains unchanged, but includes several items that are now deleted.
Frustrating for both myself and the dealer.

Sadly, you should take those dates with a pinch of salt. Even the dealers openly admit the dates are not updated correctly and timings can be totally out of kilter, due to them working on a JIT parts basis.

Earlier this year my GT4 sat in production for two months without date update. CP8 (build completion) slipped from 11th March to 27th May when it eventually updated. Then it got delayed another 2 weeks at the docks without dates updating, and then the system didn't update even when it had arrived at Reading for PDI.

The dealers are in a rock and a hard place, it's massively frustrating but believe me it'll arrive when it arrives and there's nothing you can do about it to get any info. frown
