718 GT4 UK Allocations

Just keep checking I suppose and wait until you find one which works best for you. There are 2 ext leather / CS on OPC at the moment
I have 3 Tabs open on Autotrader that I check daily. 981 GT4s
718 GT4s
718 GT4s with Clubsport Keyword
I've seen lots of cars with Buckets but no CS, lots of CS with no Extended Leather like the two £70k cars at Scott Hardy that hung around for a while

I'm looking to purchase in Spring, but could have the funds January/February.
Is it to wise to pull the trigger earlier rather than later?
Personally looking at Manual, CS, Ext Leather.
Top end of budget is as close to £70k so options limited, ideally want Porsche Warranty
Would buy before end of Jan if you want a cheaper car.Is it to wise to pull the trigger earlier rather than later?

Some hanging in to sell in spring so will be more available and keep prices ‘real’ IMV. Free £ in glove box had gone, what ever time of year you buy will still cost you £20k to drive it away now. Times have seriously changed.
That is a hell of an expensive first drive. Who would buy now knowing the drive home will cost £20K! Robbo66 said:

Email from my local(ish) OPC who does my servicing, arrived in my inbox yesterday lunchtime...
A quick look on the Porsche finder, sees just 4x Bucket/Ext-leather/LED cars. 2x Manual, 2x PDK. Which is very unusual this time of year when stock historically has inflated over winter.
3 of the 4 have CS pack, 1 car has PCCB...

Well worth exploring you have nothing to lose however; I suspect they might bid you in the balls especially this time of year hoping to pick up some cheap stock ready for next spring. I also think less and less are ordering new cars so they might see a future income stream from selling more approved used.
They are car dealers after all .
Hopefully I'm wrong, do let us know how you get your on

Be interesting to know what you think it’s worth retail and what they actually bid you. A quick look on the Porsche finder, sees just 4x Bucket/Ext-leather/LED cars. 2x Manual, 2x PDK. Which is very unusual this time of year when stock historically has inflated over winter.

If I was a betting man on a high spec, very low mile late build gt4 they will want at least £15k margin between trade and retail.
But more importantly the 718 gt4 is a great car for its price point, if you sold what would you buy?
Quite.
Nothing much competes at the money tbh.
The Emira had the potential and could well have done as a lukewarm alternative but Lotus typically in traditional Lotus fashion made sure it didn't with a capital 'D' even with the backing of Geeley the car has been a monumental cock up from start to finish. Like many others not only did I cancel my 2023 V6FE manual when awaiting collection but also my later build i4 FE.

I’d say £15-£20k is the figure if you include servicing and tyres for 1-2 years of ownership.
The market has been a real education for me this year. I was confident these cars would hold strong value and relatively easy to shift once I wanted to move on to my next purchase (RS, Spyder, SRS…). For me the GT4 was always a short term experience and stepping stone onto the next level and some purchase credit with an OPC.
I bought the car in early 2022 and when it came to think about moving up I put my 7k 2020 car with CS, ext leather, Bose, full ppf and PDLS (xenon) up for sale from May until August.
I started at mid to high 70s and by the end of the summer it was below 70k. I think the market moved faster downwards than I did. I didn’t want it to look like a fire sale or that there was something wrong with the car (which there isn’t) and every few £s extra would help towards the next car.
What I came to learn over the process were mainly two things.
Most people in this market buy with finance which makes it very difficult for a private sale.
Also there are plenty of time wasters out there. I even had one buyer give me a 5k deposit and then bail out the following week with a story about his isa not maturing yet, which was an absolute load of rubbish… I gave back the deposit because that’s how I work, but many would not have.
In the end I’ve decided to have the car serviced in December and then have a fresh go in the new year/spring. The car will still be under OPC warranty for another year and I’ll place it between the WBAC/carwow prices and the OPCs and see what happens.
I’ve had a great time with the car and so if it continues for a while longer then no issue. It was frustrating to turn down an SRS allocation I had hoped for, but buying used seems the way forward with those now.
Anyway, just thought you might want to hear of the experience of someone who has actually been trying to trade one of these cars recently.

I also found it very difficult to sell my 2022 shark blue pdk gt4, which I bought from new. Private buyers weren’t interested in the car, plenty of stupid low email offers, only one phone call. This person turned out to be a complete waste of time. Trade bids were far lower than I hoped. In the end I made the decision to trade the car to an opc which offered the highest.
I have to agree with your comment. Most people in this market buy with finance, which makes it very difficult for a private sale. We also can’t forget, these cars are becoming older, they are not as easy to get a pcp loan agaisnt them and hp may be the only option. Meaning with the high cost of borrowing your monthly’s soon go through the roof.
Despite all of this there are very few low mileage high spec GT4’s available. It’s not over supply which is the issue just the geopolitical issues / lack of free cash. This is all cyclical and will change. What won’t change is there won’t be any new GT4’s ICE built. I certainly won’t be selling my car cheap and will keep it. Cost new £108,000 June 2023 and will lose most of its depreciation in the first 3 years.

Tend to agree. I think they are the bottom now and low supply of good cars will stop them from dropping any further.I actually think I could put another 10-15k onto mine and it wouldn’t reduce much more. I have been tempted to throw a set of PS4S on and make it my daily even over the winter. Although putting PS4S on a CS does feel a bit wrong.

Admittedly the Gen 1, but it strikes me that anyone after a GT4 is getting far more car for their money with this 85 delivery miles one - the difference between Gen 1 and 2 seems negligible and factor in a mint time-warp one and it seems a worthy proposition to consider. https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/17502921

718 is a step up in many areas over the 981 tbh mainly the engine. Almost as rapid and capable as a 991.2 or 992 GT3 on the road.
Used 981 a great package at the money though and am surprised that car hasn't sold although as ever RY is a marmite colour which could be the main reason.

I hope the new owner appreciates just how treacherous decade old Cup2s will be!

Thats considerably under list with spec such as PCCB. https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/17502921
I personally wouldn't buy from that dealer but that's another story.

I've used SOR with a specialst in the past and has worked out. Peace of mind for the buyer plus the option of finance.
That said, rates remain high so i can see why buyers are scarce currently.
Out of interest, does anyone have any pointers as to why these two cars haven't sold yet? Is it just the usual case of time of year/high interest rates?
Both seem to be priced keenly for CS spec cars
