Forgiveness can be easier to seek than permission. However going for a "lairy" colour might be helpful somewhere down the line.

I'm absolutely forbidden from buying any Porsches, and have been from the word go. I wouldn't say it gets that much easier, but there was at least a little stoic acceptance (and possibly slight exasperation) when the 4th and 5th ones were noticed. The debate about ownership of 2 of them at the same time has never quite been resolved.

They've all been white so far, which means fewer than the 5 so far may actually have been noticed. Would have got away with the GT4 RS but for the carbon bonnet. But you might have a valid argument in future that the GT4 is too lairy a colour, and you need a GT3 or GT3 RS in a more subtle shade.

I have the full go ahead to buy one, but I've been showing photos and so far the only ones that didn't get a resounding no were Black, Blue, Grey and Silver.

I saw a great comment the other day - "throw a bag of Skittles down and choose one colour, no matter which colour you choose, it will suit a GT4"

rofl Too true. I think most of the Skittles colours have appeared on at least one Porsche GT car. Great looking cars in almost any colour, from subtle silver and grey to the more lurid green and yellow shades. Not sure I've ever seen a GT4 in a colour I don't like in some way. Yet I buy white car after white car...

This is just for 1st year rates.
So only if you are buying a brand new car.

The rates arent jumping for a car that already exists.

GT4 production ended nearly 2years ago. So this doesnt apply.

oh i see. Thanks for clarifying. Odd, then again maybe not, that the list doing the rounds in the news includes a model that isn't even available new.

The ‘news’ rarely reports the correct facts.

From April 1st, if you buy a new GTS 4.0 now your first years VED is £5490 (up from £2475) which will be lumped on top of the price. Unfortunately the configurator doesn't show OTR costs so bear that in mind folks.

If the ADAS wasn't enough to put you off this will.

Makes a late 22 or 23 plate low mileage GT4 look even cheaper

Yep, the end is getting closer, which as a petrolhead is really upsetting, but for folks like me who’ve done ok, but aren’t wealthy, we’ll be bowing out at this point.
As you say, must help recent s/h cars value wise

GT4 Edinburgh car at £92.5k 23 plate has gone from OPC & AT
2 further MY22 high spec GT4’s up at £90k
I can’t believe the GTS 4.0 VED is £5400 from 1st April

I'm looking for a GTS 4.0 manual but these two GT4's have now turned up in my search on price and both are comfort spec at £64995 which I am surprised they are now similar price. I am sure the spec isnt great but this is good value is it not?

That red GT4 doesn't have climate or extended leather (basic placcy dash door tops and console) basic default coloured interior trims and no cost option leather (not alcantara) steering wheel.

Also 4 owners.

No mention of history or Porsche warranty on the Gentian car.

Red car oddly had specialist service in 2023 for some reason? No mention of Porsche warranty either.

Am surprised on the pricing but I appreciate they aren’t the best examples perhaps.

The Gentian car is a decent spec for a comfort and just noticed they say in the ad full Porche service history so worth checking if that means official OPC history or not and whether any Porsche warranty. Price probably about right for a lesser known Indi dealer.

Bear in mind both cars are now the oldest first run 718 GT4s.

Yep GR one of my favourite colours for a Porsche GT for sure.

Called in Porsche Leeds the other day and just like every other OPC there were very few red Porsches overall in a sea of blacks silvers and greys and yet next door at JCT Ferrari virtually every car as expected was red.

My word, that's a weird coincidence! So you're saying most of the Italian sports cars were red, but most of the German ones were variations on silver? (Some of them should have been white. I do my bit... wink )

For whatever reason, lots of UK sports cars seem to have been green.

I love a Guards Red Porsche as much as the next man, but it's not a natural colour for a German sports car.

I know I might be the tail end of the last generation that cares, but in my mind, if I were to get a Bugatti or an Alpine, I'd be looking for a blue one.

Ancient history of the "team shirt" for motorsport might not be quite dead yet.

Liam

(Also really sick of predominantly boring colours for everyday road cars though...)
