Yup, def' Brands.
Yeah was Brands. Turned a few laps on the GP loop in the morning just to understand the car as it comes from the factory and I’ve got say it’s appalling! It’s in desperate need of setting up properly.
A geo makes a huge difference - needs camber shims at the least, but really for track use the rear toe arms needs an upgrade (lengthened arms), just like the GT4.

Congrats, that's really really lovely. IMO, a 4RS sweet-spot spec.

On an RS product it amazes me these aren't fitted from the factory.

Congratulations @finmac!!! I think it looks fabulous, just the perfect combination of understated bling, and an epic primary colour. A really tasteful and unusually non-WP spec.

Funnily, around the time you started the thread, I was enquiring with my OPC on behalf of a friend that had no Porsche purchase history. I was also feeling a little jealous that I really didn't have cash available to make more than tentative enquiries for myself. Neither of us had a cat in hell's chance of ending up with a car, as the friend in question wouldn't have considered paying for a recent used one when that started happening. Having the money is one thing, but paying so much over "list" takes a special kind of commitment. You'd have needed to REALLY want one. In my own case, I really didn't have that kind of money anyway.

30 months on, I'm pinching myself that I now have a car 2 weeks into build. I'm trying to work out the timing, but I was either just expecting, or just about to take delivery of my second new base 718 Cayman back then. I have since sold that, as I was able to get a new 718 4.0 GTS last year. I don't suppose either of those harmed my case in wanting something more special than a GT from the OPC.

While a few are construing recent times as "build allocations have become 10 a penny", @finmac and I have both done some hard yards in getting our respective allocations. In my own case, some constructive manufacture of my own luck was involved throughout.

@finmac, chuffed for you! A truly epic moment in a long-running thread, and it really does look great.

Congrats on taking delivery love that colour...Shark Blue I assume? I like the 4RS alot it's actually so close in price now to the 992 GT3 and 991.1 RS has anyone managed to drive all three and compare? From talking to other people the vibe seems to be that the 4RS won't hold value as well as a 992 GT3 as its a Cayman not a 911...given how raw the car is and the rave reviews it's had I'd take that with a pinch of salt but who knows. Obviously the overs paid early last yr were crazy but now it's getting tempting. Was just fooling around on configurator and if you want WP, mag wheels and Ceramics it's min £160k...as mentioned quite a few used ones sub £150k now with the first two items but not the ceramic brakes (£6500 option I think).

I did 20,000 miles in my 991.1 RS……great car however compared to the 4RS they feel big and
a bit numb steering feel. The 4RS is on another level for driver engagement.

I was hearing at Anglesey last week that some have manage to get -2.5 degrees of camber on the rear without rear toe links ... it's also worth mentioning that in the wet negative camber works against you.
This is particularly important when centre locks are so much harder to change and for myself, I'll fit my PS4S wheels in winter and leave my Cup2 wheels on throughout the summer (such as this summer is !).

As normal, yes a GT car needs setting up post delivery.

Ref rear toe arms… 4RS comes with revised length rear toe arms (adjustable on the eccentric bolt only) and if you are prepared to play around with ride height as well you can actually get to a decent amount of toe in with reasonable camber.

The 4RS is a bit different to the GT4 due to stronger springs and dampers which mean that rate of travel and therefore toe curve is managed more carefully.
So, just like the camber you may not need to have loads of static toe set because dynamic deviation will now be less. It’s down to personal preference, but somewhere between 12-15mins (2-2.2mm) is the optimal static range for retaining mid engine-ness on this platform. The race cars do often run a bit more but for different reasons, also they run slicks and don’t mind burning tyres up.

Now of course if you want complete autonomy and independence of other variables for setting your toe… then yes, you will want thread adjustable toe arms… the other advantage of this arrangement is that by using a lockout in place of the eccentric… your set toe will remain in place even if you decide to go kerb hopping!

On the subject of driving in the wet ... I notice a lot of people are very reticent to get going and wait for it to dry up when ... intriguingly, the track might be at its most slippery and least predictable.

I'm quite happy to post what works for me but realise that this might appear to be a little presumptive ... what thoughts ?

It would obviously need to be a separate post ...

Looks fantastic.

Not a fan of overspeccing/the W pack myself.
