So, approx 30 months after starting this thread I today took delivery of a new GT4RS in my own spec (at list!) . <snip>
Congratulations @finmac!!! I think it looks fabulous, just the perfect combination of understated bling, and an epic primary colour. A really tasteful and unusually non-WP spec.Funnily, around the time you started the thread, I was enquiring with my OPC on behalf of a friend that had no Porsche purchase history. I was also feeling a little jealous that I really didn't have cash available to make more than tentative enquiries for myself. Neither of us had a cat in hell's chance of ending up with a car, as the friend in question wouldn't have considered paying for a recent used one when that started happening. Having the money is one thing, but paying so much over "list" takes a special kind of commitment. You'd have needed to REALLY want one. In my own case, I really didn't have that kind of money anyway.
30 months on, I'm pinching myself that I now have a car 2 weeks into build. I'm trying to work out the timing, but I was either just expecting, or just about to take delivery of my second new base 718 Cayman back then. I have since sold that, as I was able to get a new 718 4.0 GTS last year. I don't suppose either of those harmed my case in wanting something more special than a GT from the OPC.
While a few are construing recent times as "build allocations have become 10 a penny", @finmac and I have both done some hard yards in getting our respective allocations. In my own case, some constructive manufacture of my own luck was involved throughout.
@finmac, chuffed for you! A truly epic moment in a long-running thread, and it really does look great.
Liam
I must say I swithered between Red and WP or Shark and no WP. I’m glad I went Shark - it really stands out in the flesh. Interestingly, I spent less on extras with this than I did with my last GT4 which had full CS/Shark blue and a fair few goodies. Maybe it’s because I’m Scottish but I just don’t see the value in adding around 30% to the cost of the car simply to get ceramic/WP/PTS/Mag wheels. Then again we are all different and that’s what makes life more interesting.

Love that. Will try and drop by later !
I love it, I think it's stunning colour. For me, fun cars should be fun colours, hence me speccing Python on my 4.I had the brief chat with my salesman about it when I saw it appear this afternoon, and he gave me the porsche spec code for it. List is £173,916.00 +OTR costs. The truth of the matter for me though, is no matter which way I could try to make the 'man maths' work, it's way out of my financial league.
Honestly, if money was no object and I had the c£100k that's needed for me to change into it from from my 4, i'd do it in a heartbeat. Having said that, if money was no object I'd probably already have one, or something else. Anyway, regardless, it is absolutely stunning...
Still trying to figure out whats wrong with this looks ideal spec to me

It has been up at 210 at the height of the madness.
Its now pretty much current list, without the brand new OTR costs.

It's mad I'm struggling to get 130 for my 600LT which is still for sale. Needless to say as excellent as the GT4 is it's a ways behind the Macca! In fact thinking about it is a 600 LT only 30 grand better than a GT4? Erm....yeah! and more.....
V suprised yours hasn't sold yet tbh seems the wider mkt is v slow indeed with cars just sitting and not selling even with some price reductions. I'm considering a 4RS to run alongside my 600 as it offers something a little different with that N/A engine...I wouldn't swap one for the other tho. There was a GT Silver 991.2 RS at Porsche Leicester that dropped right down to £155k last week (dropped £30k in 3 months) and it finally sold...was a nice looking car I enquired after it but someone else had it on their watchlist after that final price drop.finmac said:

I think the non-WP with Shark looks great. I'm not sure if it's about being Scottish, or just sensible, but PCCB and Mag wheels were never on the cards for me. I'm hoping to keep the car a good while, and to do a few track days. Consequently I don't want to addict myself to ceramic brakes, or run around on the pot-holed roads where I live with wheels that might suffer. One never knows how easily they might afford hefty bills in future!I must say I swithered between Red and WP or Shark and no WP. I’m glad I went Shark - it really stands out in the flesh. Mine is a non-PTS allocation (I guess end of the 2024 spec and they didn't want to order any more custom paint), so was probably always going to be white. My 5th white Cayman in fact, and following a white GT86. I cannot remember what forced my hand into Weissach Pack, but there was an option I wanted that was unavailable in non-WP. I think both can look great. Much as I think your Shark non-WP is one of the nicest I have seen photos of so far, I'm also looking forward to the white paint and clear-coat carbon heading my way. Just wish Carrara White was still available, but the 4.0 GTS I got last year also had to be in non-metallic white.
Also good to hear it's a bit of an animal! You have reassured me a bit.
I fired up my 981 GT4 in the workshop this afternoon, moving cars around to fit track wheels for next week, and dick around with the track-day aerodynamics. (Sadly its last hurrah I would think, but at least on a set of brand new Cup 2). The crackle of the exhaust on start-up indoors is hysterical. I then proceeded to almost hit the hedge in front of the workshop because I'd forgotten how much brake pedal force they need when stone cold! I'm hoping the GT4 RS is similarly quirky and fun, albeit in a different way.
Have great fun with your new car @finmac. A long wait, but looks amazing, and seems like you are going to enjoy it.

Certain colours look good on gt4rs and I don’t think yellow is one of them especially with carbon bits on the frunk
Just seen donutskidmarks 4RS on the post a picture thread and the carbon strips on the frunk work really well with the dark green, not usually a fan of dark green but that looks fantastic.Still feel the lighter colours ie the recent Acid green which is a beautiful colour benefit without the carbon strips as per the look of the Gt4 in Acid green for sale at Perth OPC
