The drip, drip of the marketing continues… GT4 RS at GP Ice driving.

Some good inside sound impression.

But it's no good for ice because you can't see through the rear window ??

Just joking.

It sounds great ... but you don't need a GT4RS to do that ;-)

Tyres and studs are the most important decision ...

I was promised a GT4RS, as long as I let them have my 992GT3 back on a SOR. I am getting their second car, which I am told and understand that they will get no more at all, and many Porsche dealers will only get 1(the smaller ones). Apparently this is due to all the supply chain problems, boats carrying Porsches(and Lambo's) sinking, and the shortage of chips. We will see, but whatever, the road tests seem to confirm that the GT4RS is unbelievably good, with, they say, one of the best sounding engines ever!

I think some of you are getting carried away with the premium the car will carry, when mine arrives it certainly will be driven and no plans on a sale!
I think its going to be the noise that makes the car, yes it appears to be quick around a track but every review centres around the sound in the cabin.

I’ve been trying to find some Cup2 R tyres for it just for fun, and cannot find any in 295/30, even though the lap of Nurburgring was apparently set on them, does this suggest Porsche fitted 305’s for the ring?

100%, what you and TDT have done to your GT4s really makes them pretty special, and you could do loads more and it would still cost of half the cost of a flipped RS, but it won't be half the fun. Hope your well Chris.

I'm well thanks, but changing direction.

I bought a 944 Turbo Cup some time ago and having sorted out a few teething issues I intend to run this for track days in place of the GT4. There was an article recently in the Porsche Post on my development of the car.

How are you getting along with your Radical ? That was an experience smile !

How come the swap Chris? I'd of loved your GT4 as it is but I'm going to wait a while before I have another toy.

I sold the Radical last year, after Covid ment I couldn't really use it for a year, and then RMA banned Radicals, so have Silverstone, I got an offer for what I paid for it 2 years prior and it needed an engine re-build so thought let it go, especially when we found out our first child was on the way. I brought a MK3 TTRS as a practical daily but hated it and 2 days before my Daughter was born I traded it in before for 981 Cayman GTS Manual with all the right bits, little did I know I wouldn't really use it. So after 8 months I sold it 2 weeks ago haha. For now I run a private Sim racing group with some very quick real world racers and that keeps me ticking!

I keep saying to TDT that I will pop down to a track day at some point but just busy these days, I may rent a Radical from my friend and do a day at Donnington in the summer, be good to catch up with you guys.

He’s right to say he’s confused.

Production issues aside, you can walk into a Porsche showroom and order a cooking model. You can’t order the hot stuff.

Exactly the same as his point on the fezzers.

The limited numbers Ferrari 'specials' allocations are decided by Ferrari themselves and if one is flipped then said offender gets blacklisted for all future 'specials'. Its a very fair system and takes the pressure off the dealer DPs.
Unfortunately OPCs get to decide on Porsche GT products and they invariable get allocated to their favourite 'flippers' who can be trusted to sell them on SOR through the same OPC after a few months or less of custodianship.

The one major difference is that Ferrari genuinely hate flippers whereas OPCs only pretend to !

it's hard not to though, if these are going for £200k over list then you can just sell it, buy a normal gt4 and pocket £100k

Indeed and I can’t say I blame people who do TBH. This is a pure issue of Porsche supply/demand/price ratio and it seems Porsche do it on purpose which is poor show. I don’t suppose it will last much longer once there are no ICE models left as I just can’t see people getting g as excited…

I think it was on the Intercooler they made the point that this is a different RS from any recent RS. Other recent RS's had an evolution of the engine in the cars they were based with say a 5 to 10% increase in power (4.0 RS might be the exception but still with an evolution of the engine in the GT3).

The GT4 RS essence's is its engine IMHO. 25% ish more powerful than the GT4 a totally different engine to the base car with I think the real standout being the indiction system which it seems really dominates the cockpit.

I think it's hard/impossible with any kind of sensible budget to take a GT4 and get it close to a a GT4 RS.

The point is it doesn't have to be close to the RS, but a modified GT4 981 or even a 718 with some tweaks is a fantastic car, comparing the price point of a flipped GT4 RS (what we all think that might be).

It depends how you define fun I suppose….judging by the amount people are willing to pay for JCR or Akra exhaust systems for a lot of people part of the fun is about how the car sounds. Yes you can fettle a GT4 to be a mighty capable car but it’s never going to have that engine sat right behind your head….that’s why people think it’s a £250k car. If it had a tweaked version of the standard engine the premiums would be nothing like what is being speculated.

Agree sound is a massive part of the fun. But the GT4 engine does sit right behind you though, onc3 you fettle with that is pretty loud. Not sure the RS will sound better than TDT's 981 GT4.
