Mine is Dove Blue. Just a bit more purple than Venice Blue, which is more common.
It goes in next month for a new bumper and some spray, where a muppet parked his Nissan Mildred in the back of me on the M1.

Thanks guys.
It's been a labour of love, and it has a full engine rebuild from Paul A. In fact, the block used to belong in Tony the flat bed driver's S4 - seen earlier in this very thread.
A few jobs to do - the steering wheel leather is a bit worn and the seats needs a recolour. I fitted a Blaupunkt SQ46 , which is the looky likey with the SD cards in the fake cassette slot. Full new speakers and sub in the back. took me a full day to chase out all the old rats nest and replace chocblocks with decent bullets connectors etc.
I'll give it an oil and filter plus front pads and tranny oil change over Christmas.
It has an x pipe and sounds epic.

How do you find the SQR46? I bought one for my '92 730i and it looks like it was born to be there, but I'm not impressed with the sound at all. The Silvercrest horror that was in there when I bought the car sounded so much better! It's been a labour of love, and it has a full engine rebuild from Paul A. I can see it might be a bit weedy if you're driving a decent system as you would have in the BMW. Plus, the 928 is 4 ohm, so probably not hard to drive (not that I know much about car hifi).

I also have one in my 928, but it's going through am Audison Forza 8.9 Bit amp / processor with 10 Audison Prima Speakers and an Audison Sub in the boot.It has a rear bias sound, with six of the speakers behind the driver, and is hands down the best car hifi I've ever heard. Perfect in fact.

Highly recommend Stuart at Accutek in Winchester.

I was considering an Audison Forza installation in my Boxster S as it doesn't even have Bose and therefore sounds like a Fisher Price® My First Car Stereo. But the Gulf orange colour wasn't growing on me and I didn't want to spend a small fortune on audio for a car I wasn't going to keep. But I've had it 2.5 years so maybe I should have. The colour still hasn't grown on me but I do love the car. But right now my priority is looking after mum (and finding a nice 928 that I can afford). I can’t help with reasons why not to get a 928, except to add that since mine was written off last week, another S4 or GT manual seems to be the only thing that’ll serve as a replacement.
I put a couple of photos in the Classics forum, but here it is being carted away from being rear-ended at about 50-60kmh…

Mine was an 87 manual S4 with black leather interior, and had been treated to a full, engine-out, top-end overhaul with new clutch only about 6000km ago.
There aren’t many manuals over here, so the UK market usually gets trawled - which is where mine had come from about 12/13 years ago.
If you get one, it’s worth getting one that’s had work done rather than buy one to do the work. It doesn’t take much for it to start getting to a big number.
Oh, one other detail I liked about mine, in the rear 3/4 window…

I think I helped my then friend to drag this car out of complete neglect in front of a house near Cambridge... Then he sold it to another great friend of mine, who then moved it on to Hilton, who I guess sold it to you...
What a shame.. It was a great car with LSD and pulled like a freight train - I remember Joel nearly rear ending an E46 M3 at 155mph indicated, as the BMW thought he could outrun a Great White...

That’s the one, except another PH’er bought it from Hilton and had it maintained by the specialist local to me, before I bought it. That specialist agreed it was a good one, and has bought the wreck from me. He’s got the tools, knowledge and, more importantly, time and space to do things properly, and we’ve both done OK.I think I helped my then friend to drag this car out of complete neglect in front of a house near Cambridge... As to how, line of traffic doing about 70kmh suddenly stops, as do I, but the car behind doesn’t. No injuries, these seats are feckin awesome for preventing whiplash.
Doors don’t open/close properly, boot floor kinked, rear wings creased - it’s about $100k in parts and labour, presuming that when things are straightened there are no further, previously hidden, issues.
I thank the cars for their thoughts also…

Anyway, have leads on two so far - an Aus delivered S4, and a UK import GT - we’ll see what January looks like!
Definitely spend as much as you can to get a decent one. I knew mine needed some body work when I bought it. £20k later....
I love it though. Comfortable, great noise and so well built. Touch wood it's been reliable too. Took three adults and luggage to Denmark and back so practical as well (if a little snug in the back!) I'd love a manual, but rare and huge premium and according to experts the auto suits the car better I believe.
I think £20k should get you a decent early car.

Looks lovely! Whereabouts did you go in Denmark? I spent a year in Aalborg in 2005. It's a funny country when it comes to cars. Many ordinary people drive rustbuckets, because when you buy a car you pay for the car, then 180% registration tax, and then 25% VAT on the whole lot. So a £10k car ends up costing £35k. Unless it's a 2-seater only commercial vehicle with space for loading, in which case it gets different plates and a different tax regime. I knew someone who bought an Audi R8 and registered it as a commercial vehicle for tax purposes. But then you're not allowed to use it for commuting so he kept it at the office!alabbasi said:
I've had one since 2012. I'm not in love with it and i've probably not driven it since 2015. It's an 88 S4 auto. I also have a 98 R129 Mercedes Benz SL500 which seems to check all the same boxes, but does it better.

Maybe time to let someone else love it? That SL in the background is another I hanker after - an R107 which was made until 1989...
