Hi all,


Just wondering what people think of the current values of 964's


Quick history, I have owned three over the years, C2, C4 and C2 cab, all manual.


Considering another C2 manual coupe. either a do it upper which needs full paint, or a mint car,


Have been watching the adds on autotrader, pistonheads, and ebay, nice low mileage cars, £50k ish to £65k for really low miles, but nothing selling,

Higher miles cars, sort of 100k miles upwards, at the high £30k to £50k again havent seen anything selling for ages.


They were selling well about 2years ago around the £40k to £50k mark, looks like market has dropped, and dealers or private sellers still looking for top prices but no-one biting.


Interested to hear of cars people have bought or sold and what prices are current.

What the buyer offers and the seller accepts.

Really depends on when someone bought their car, how much they spent on it and if they need to sell it.

I still wouldn't buy at £50k as aircooled cars nearly always need a reasonable amount spent to bring them up to scratch (not all).

Buy on condition, history with an eye on what needs doing e.g. engine, suspension, bodywork.

The hard bit is finding a good one.

The market is slow. I have a few cars and sold three cars this year. Only the scud went quick. As I said have been watching 964s and 993s since early summer and see the same cars advertised. Good 964s used to be £15 to £20k. All be it about 7 years ago. Then they jumped up very quickly to £40 plus. Low mileage now seem to be advertised at £55k and above which is a lot of money when you consider what else you can buy for that price. That’s more than I sold my low mileage manual 997 turbo for.

Air cooled I think will always have a following certainly and rarity helps a lot with value. Lots of cabs for sale and lots of tiptronics. Not so many C2 manual coupes. My own opinion is £40k ish is reasonable money for a nice C2 coupe on a private sale that needs little doing. I suspect any you buy will always need a good few grand spent somewhere.

Also guess quite a few people paid strong money for cars that weren’t quite right and may have ploughed
Money into them to sort issues and now trying to recoup their spend.

That’s has been on sale for months. Going to be hard to shift a lhd convertible with a tip box and just 6 service stamps at £30k in the uk. Never mind the broken roof. Never understand why people especially dealers don’t sort things like that prior to sale.

That will be here next December at that price.

Tip is really a meh but that broken roof should not be a big issue if there is no rust? engine work and body rust would be major worry for me.

I do not mind LHD, handy at starbucks drive throughs on euro trips. hehe

But the roof could be broken because the motors/control units have rotted out thanks to blocked drains - expensive job to do (and all Targas do it).

No, they don't. 993 targas do. But, they're not targas, in the strictest sense.

I bought a very clean, C2 manual coupe from a Porsche specialist dealer in the summer for £65k including a warranty, good history with 65,000 miles. There are some silly prices being sought by some dealers, but good cars are exactly that - good.

Not strong money for a nice minty rust free 3.2 Carrera, 964 C2 Coupe, and 993 C2 Coupe. Low owner 65k mile cars easily £65k for well kept examples. The cars you are looking at not comparable. On the 964 you posted for example I'd take a close look at the shut lines around the rear. Stickers front and rear missing too. Potentially been in a shunt hence the low price and still not selling imo. Even in current market perfect examples of the above cars will not come down in value. Too few around and good ones owners keep.

Optimistic I would say. Has air con which I guess was an option on touring spec ? I have only seen one 964 sell in the last three months. 130k miles c2 Manual Coupè two owner car at £37k. Looked nice. None of the higher priced cars at dealers have shifted but spring is around the corner so I expect market will improve. Rs touring must be very rare and with those miles

That was a C4 not a C2 if it was the Zuffenhaus car.
Manual C2 Coupe manuals are very hard to find at reasonable prices now.

Just been looking at 964 / 930 prices in light of the current crisis and it does seem that many cars have not shifted for some time.

Where I can see a number plate, I've checked the MOT database and a number of cars have not been taxed for ages - does this effectively mean they've been on a dealer's book for that length of time? Or been sold from one dealer to another?

One particular low mileage 3.2 Supersport I've been looking at seems to have been on sale for ages. It recently came down in price a little, but still feels punchy.

I've not seen many good 964 C2 manual for sales for ages. 930 always plenty. 3.2 C SSE a rarer bird. i can't really see good ones coming down, most of the stuff for sale in classifieds very shiny but underneath rotten.

This is an interesting anomaly. I'm not a fan of the way a 930 drives but I love this one. Very quirky but looks stunning.
