The VVS car is still available. I had a look and a drive today. Defo a manual. Any stories that people know about this car. Please pm me with anything sensitive I
For the record, the guys down there seem like a decent bunch. However, as well as the car seemed to drive, I have no previous experience with the 430, or any modern Ferrari for that matter.
The manetino switch appeared to do very little apart from bleep when I turned it, should I have expected any noticeable change at normal revs and speed?
Any info greatly appreciated........
So it was on the website, then off, now it's back on again? It may not be the case at all, by my initial thoughts are - Did someone agree to buy it, then it fell through for whatever reason? For the record, the guys down there seem like a decent bunch. It's not a car I know, but others might. Do you have anymore info on it, VIN / Reg number etc?
It's a beautiful car, love the colour combo - The only advice I can give you, is just make sure you get the car fully checked over by someone who really knows F430's. If you buy one of these and it needs work it could cost you many thousands!
To give you the benefit of my experience, I bought an F430 Spider, Manual (Rosso / Creme) earlier this year from a main dealer (after months of looking). The car looked perfect but still needed £6k prep work before delivery (gear lever bush / suspension work - a common fault and some other bits and bobs). It got worse, when within the first 3 months, it also needed a new clutch and both manifolds replacing!!
All in all, it was not far short of £15k to carry out all the repairs. Thankfully, I'd bought from a main dealer and they paid for it all to be put right.
My point is this, the car looked immaculate but obviously needed quite a bit of very expensive work, all of which are common faults on F430's.
If you like the car, place a deposit with the agreement that purchasing it is subject to an inspection - If it turns out to be a good straight car, you'll love it!
Either way, the cost of the inspection will be the best money you've ever spent!

I know a few of the local Ferrari Specialists, but details of inspection services would be much appreciated.
I held some interest in this car and it cropped up in conversation with a dealer pal, as you say, the car was recently sold through HR Owens online trade auction sale. HRO describe the cars condition accurately and this one he recalled needed some paint and other bits attending to which is more than likely why they didn't retail it. Presumably the margin would have been too tight. Bills on these cars add up very very quickly!!

I can't say exactly why HRO chose not to retail this car but as a rule, if the main dealer decides not to retail a vehicle, it's normally because the workshop costs involved in preparing the car to Ferrari standards, will outstrip or exceed all potential profits.
In such instances, the cars are then traded on to what I would describe as high end secondhand car dealers, who may or may not choose to rectify all the issues.

HR Owen were considering selling at £80k retail with the 2 year warranty. Car went through their workshop and it came back with a decent list of repairs needed.......£10k minimum
Including Clutch, paintwork, bolster on driver seat.
Service book missing stamps......
Saw car on HR Owen 'Trade' site and believe it went for low £70's......sure I saw £72k but missed the end.

Personally I think the manual works better with the F355 than the F430 and the F430 actually suits the F1 especially in the superfast II Scuderia which must be the pinnacle of single clutch boxes and suits the nature of the track biased car.
Double clutch cars are so quick and efficient but don't feel like the superfast II in the Scud.
I was dead set on a manual 430, then changed my mind. i agree that the f1 box suits it, and there is something quite nice in being able to feel the gear change (clever as double clutch gearboxes are). Anyway, personal taste really.Double clutch cars are so quick and efficient but don't feel like the superfast II in the Scud.

just a thought chaps.......
i've just renewed my insurance policy and when checking the value of the car i had down(which i haven't changed since buying the car) i noticed i was MASSIVELY under insured to the tune of around 20k....if current retail prices of manuals are anything to go by.
worth checking gentlemen....

That's a lot of money for an F430 Coupe. Hopefully this'll do wonders for the prices of manual 360's Gassing Station | Ferrari V8 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
