458 Values - again
Discussion
It covers the big ticket stuff, so there's a pretty major peace of mind there.
If you wanted to sell the car privately I'd say it would be very advantageous to have.
That being said, it explicitly doesn't cover oil leaks, so misting shocks (which seem to be a point of failure on 458s, like R8s which share the same part) are not covered.
As with all insurance policies it depends entirely on your risk profile. It's not super cheap, but what it covers isn't either.
For what it's worth - if I was doing it again - given I had to pay ~£8k for 4 new shocks even with a Ferrari Power Warranty - I'd probably just keep a slush fund instead. I don't know how many instances there have been of 458s lunching their engines or gearboxes, but it can't be that high as it doesn't seem to be widely talked about.

I had a lunched gearbox, covered under Power Warranty. It was shipped off to Maranello and rebuilt. I shudder to think of what the bill would have been.
I retract my previous comment then. Ouch!

I just paid for a Ferrari power warranty for my California T as my older pre turbo California had one and I was grateful for it when the Old gearbox started playing up - totally covered by the warranty and would have cost me 6 - 8 grand and only needed a sensor replacing. Worth noting when looking at warranties is that the best non Ferrari one I found had labour rates capped at £140 per hour, where as Ferrari main dealers are £180 per hour I think.

That must of been a few years ago. You can now get the gearbox overhaul these days for a lot less. Even the shocks can be overhauled now a lot cheaper to.

Whatever it was, they were trying to find out/fix it for ages under video supervision from the gearbox supremo in Maranello and eventually he just said send it to me. Like I said, I shudder to think of the cost but it wasn't hugely far south of 20 gross of her Majesty's sterlings or something when all the labour etc. was added up. Pocty
What’s everyone’s general thoughts on Speciale values? I’m very tempted by one and not looking for an investment just keen to ensure I don’t take a big hit if I decided it wasn’t for me. The black one at Graypaul is tempting me since I prefer an understated look (if that’s possible!)

Is there any red flags with this one spec wise? Appreciate it isn’t red (not my thing) and doesn’t have lift which I’m told isn't an issue with these since it’s not that low and the bit that would scrape is plastic anyway. Where do you guys think Speciale values are heading?

You’re looking for confirmation to reinforce an illogical purchase in your mind, don’t worry, we all do it but realistically no one knows where the prices are going. You only need to look at old threads, like I was last night, and see the wildly wrong predictions. https://preowned.ferrari.com/en/gb/search/2014/fer...

Advice that is always solid is, if you want one then buy one. I’m about to do the same with a different car.

Ha yes I know, but as I’m new to the brand I just wanted to know from others if there’s anything on this spec that’s missing and considered ‘crucial’ when it come to values. Advice that is always solid is, if you want one then buy one. I’m about to do the same with a different car.
Yes black is hard to keep clean but it has full PPF and I enjoy cleaning cars so not concerned.

I sold mine just before prices bombed as I never drove it as I preferred my other Ferraris on the road. A mate of mine gave £360,000 for the one now for sale at Top555. It's a lovely spec and an unusual colour that in person really works. £259,000 6k miles.https://preowned.ferrari.com/en/gb/search/2014/fer...

As for values I've never really been one for thinking about them but the future could go one of two ways, up or down. No charge for that insightful guidance. ;-)

That one at top555 looks lovely, takes bravery to spec like that but it really does work. Would love to see in person. As for values I've never really been one for thinking about them but the future could go one of two ways, up or down. No charge for that insightful guidance. ;-)

Great car but it didn't fit in with my collection as it didn't do something I wanted to do better than other stuff I had, if that makes sense?
