Purosangue, what a cynical name for exactly what is is not. Enzo said he would never build a four door car, well now Ferrari is New York listed, the only rule they have left is to grab as much money as they can before the brand is permanently laughed at and irrelevant ?

I threw away my Ferrari logo's cap today and it felt good, as it's just embarissing. Ferrari are morphing into Goldman Sachs it seems.

This brand, which I once liked, is now a brand I can't stand anymore. The disdain for customers, the truly extortionate spares prices (in the name of ("exclusivity")...I.e £1,200 for 4 new plastic buttons to replace the ones that melted..., the monster depreciation with so many new F cars coming out... oh yes and driving one also feels like you have to enjoy walking down the high street with no clothes on, if that's you, then you will like being seen driving your Ferrari.

Oh and hello again Mercedes Benz, who make far better cars, and incidentally beat Ferrari laughingly at F1 too where Ferrari are completely hopeless now. R.I.P Enzo ...sorry for what the Prius driving bankers have done to your once epic, styliish company. And Oh yes, well done to Mazda for your red Rossi fuoco paint jobs at £199 extra, instead of £15,000...

Its high time this brand starts respecting its customers instead of this ruthless gouging.. ...let's have them start by lowering the price of spares, so that's £15 then for any plastic buttons rubbish parts that melt above 30c...because they can't be arsed to sort that out....not £1299 ....

I don’t think Enzo himself held his road car customers in very high regard either so possibly New Ferrari are carrying on an old tradition.

This is a very ranty post but some of it holds water. This section from the article I’ve quoted below sums it up. A reward from Ferrari is to take 1.73 USD from you! What planet are they on?

Even more rarefied is the new Icona series, which updates company classics in limited-run form. Those include a fanciful $1.73 million Monza SP1 with a single seat for a driver and no windshield, in the romantic style known as barchetta, Italian for “little boat.”

“These are the products that we consider a reward to our best clients,” Mr. Galliera said. “It’s our way of saying thank you to the people who are most connected to our brand.”

So you own a car that most people are unlikely to be able to afford in their lifetime, and you want it to cost you the same as a Mazda to run?

It is hard not to agree with most of this, and that’s the plain truth.

To me the main sad thing about the PS is that it has killed off the 2-door 4-seaters. I would have loved a hybrid V12 Lusso successor. Really not keen on buying a 300k SUV from Ferrari (not that I could afford it).

The article seems to be about reassuring investors in the quoted company that the business model is sound

And yet the zero-sum game for their best customers is getting ever more challenging due to decreasing interest in cars for younger people, the proliferation of new models (discounts already on F8 ?) and cynical ploys (supposedly much used in the USA) like forcing unpopular cars onto these customers (at significant expense to them) to supposedly bump them up the queue for the limited editions on which they used to make most profit on resale

Of course it could just be that Ferrari's business model is actually a definition of the rewards of success & aspiration

Lots of love for the Roma in this thread but none for the review thread the other day. Does this mean it’s pretty but of little real interest?

I really like the design, but am not all that keen on the engine (or the lack of 4wd)

I have been a die-hard car (not Ferrari) enthusiast since childhood but the idea of new cars being objects of desire or enjoyment is dead to me. I've mostly switched off to them and will continue to enjoy my relics, somewhat out of habit, somewhat out of a genuine like for them.

On the eve of mass electrification now more than ever the manufacturers now need to do whatever they can to differentiate and turn a profit. It isn't a surprise nor concern to me that Ferrari have done this, as - for a while now - I've thought that modern supercar brands and their cars are rather irrelevant in this country.

I hope you're referring to the one where Joey finds a Porsche parked outside his apartment so he pretends it's his - poses with it and washes it and buys all this gaudy Porsche gear :-D

Still makes me laugh ...

I’m trying to be more positive about this. If the SUV makes as much money for Ferrari as Porsche has made out of theirs, it could be a positive. Porsche SUV production hasn’t hurt their GT2, GT3 etc models - the cash generated has positively helped them.
