I wouldn’t say the steering wheel is “wobbly “ but on a bumpy road you do get a bit of scuttle shake with the roof down (much better with the roof up). On a smooth road or a track I don’t notice any.

I watched that, but he’s on track, which is unlikely to be like the roads near me!

Exactly this.

I rarely notice it when in Europe as the roads are much better than ours generally but do, as Wombat says, notice bit of scuttle shake with the roof down on a bad road surface.TBH the car is so good in every other respect I forgive it that one foible.

Nope. As Enzo intended other than full PPF and the tri colour on the sills. I dont mess with my Fezzas or Porsches mechanically although I've extensively modified my Exige S3.

Another question I have for you spider owners is whether you find it ‘wobbly’? I want a convertible, and I’ve been flipping between 650s/570 for something a bit more recent (and carbon) and what I’ve kind of always wanted (458). I drove a friend’s 355 spider for a while a couple of years ago and found I was chasing the wheel. I know the 458 will be light years ahead of the 355, but it would be good to know you guys aren’t disappointed by judder etc.
Mclaren's are definitely more comfortable for us tall people BUT the money you loose in buying one is enormous compared to a Ferrari

The race seats are not heated, I have them and think they suit the car better but like everything it's personal choice

They're surprisingly comfortable even on long cross Europe drives

I think all standard seats are full electric and heated on UK cars
I've had CF seats on both my Ferraris and wouldn't consider buying one without them. The exceptions to this are any open top Ferrari as i also like heated seats when driving with the top down on a cold sunny day. Bear in mind the demand for 488s/458s is much higher with the CF seats which reflects in the used prices. The other caveat is i only get CF seats with alcantara centres as these are much nicer on a cold day.
The standard seats are not heated on any Ferrari and you need to seek out one with the optional full electric ones if you want a toasty bum. All 458s/488s fitted with the CF race seats come with a £10k premium when used so by choosing one with the comfy seats will sane money.
This.

All of my 458/488 have all had them, personally I wouldn't even consider a car without.

It's not like the Lamborghini Performante race/comfort seat conundrum that will see you needing a chiropractor after anything other than a test drive, the Ferrari race seats are among the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in.
What exactly is the point of buying a hard core supercar such as the Performante and then optioning comfort seats? rolleyes

So the experience of actually driving it is enjoyable?

Too many people’s decisions seem to be dictated by what is “the correct option” rather than personal choice.

If an option is “undesirable” by the “enlightened” it will be priced into the market. So no loss either way.

Get what you like and negotiate the price to reflect the relative options. If they won’t then move on. But just because some enlightened know it all says those seats suck and yet you like them and it’s reflected in the price what’s stopping you?

I’ve never understood the PH obsession with having racing seats in a 458 spider. Surely if you want the whole ten tenths hardcore experience that racing seats imply, you buy an Italia not a Spider.

it's nice like that, they just feel nice and secure, what's wrong with wanting that as well as an open top car???

Because, as the man said, many people find the Lambo seats bloody uncomfortable. Me included.

ETA The Ferrari ones have an adjustable back, not fixed, so are very comfortable

I’ve had both. Had Daytona seats in my first 458 many years ago. Super comfortable for a long journey, did a 2000 mile road trip, not a problem.
Currently have CF race seats, alcantara interior, they are way more comfortable that any Porsche CF GT seat, also surprisingly comfortable for long journeys, you must go for large seats as medium are too small for most people.

The carbon seats are soooo good that unless you desperately need heating (or SWMBO does) then it's a no-brainer, assuming you can find a car with them of course. As said above "large" is the way to go.

That being said, don't write off an otherwise appealing (to you) car because of it. A car without them will be cheaper at both ends of the transaction, and as long as you accept that going in then that's fine.

Having had a 458 with the CF race seats I wouldn't get anything else, personally.

Had the carbons In mine (half leather/half alcantara). Absolutely loved them. Comfortable and looked so good. If i was buying another I would try and get them. They look even better in the spider as more visible with the roof down.

If I couldn't get them, I'd settle for Daytona's.

I’ve now managed to sit in both.

I can confidently say that the support in the comfort seat is (genuinely) not as good as my 330’s M-sport seats. I honestly don’t think there would be enough support offered by these seats for spirited road driving.

Sports seats it is.

Did you take a spirited drive in both or perform the automotive equivalent of a lunge in a new pair of suit trousers?

Only reason I ask is that I have just been out for a spirited drive in my comfort seats and at no stage did I feel lacking in support.
