Potential 458 spider purchase
Discussion
Interesting fact (apparently) according to a Spider owner I was chatting to a few weeks ago, the exhaust is 'piped' into the cabin on the Spider and not the Italia. The thinking was that because of the lack of roof Ferrari were concerned that the noise might be lost so enhanced the sound through piping (rather than an artificial BMW-style type thing) and as a result actually sounds better than the Italia when pressing on with the roof down.
Maybe completely tosh of course but you never know.

I may be (no I am) extra fussy but the Rybrook car could have been prepped better.
Give the area around the lift button a clean at least. Also not sure if that’s scratches on the CF rev counter binnacle and passenger air vent. Wheels should be perfect too but I’m not so sure.
For £160k it needs to be spot on.

The lacquer on the diamond cut alloys has bubbled by the looks of it.Give the area around the lift button a clean at least. Also not sure if that’s scratches on the CF rev counter binnacle and passenger air vent. Wheels should be perfect too but I’m not so sure.

Like you say at TOP money the car should be perfect not needing attention.
I know its 8 years old but its still an awful lot of money to have issues IMHO.
At least at that mileage its more likely to be genuine than the sub 10k cars. 3k pa is not a lot for normal supercars but for a ferrari its probably twice the average. Next milestone at 30k is only 7k away and that will obviously dent the value

One of the members in the 458 WhatsApp group is about to sell his car back to the dealer ( spider) that’s Rosso and a lovely spec.
Is the group open for new members ?F355GTS said:
Selling already Andy?
Afraid so Mark. Just haven't used it as I thought I would and too much money to have sitting around doing nothing.Drove it to work just before Xmas. 160 mile round trip and felt really at home in it but.. I only did that as I had already done the deal so wanted to get one last trip in. Not the best of conditions but needs must.
I'm sure in 6 months time I will regret it.

Happy New Year all!
My NY resolution is to become a Ferrari owner and I’ve decided on a Rosso Corsa 458 spider. Have read lots of posts and buyers guides from this forum and have been very helpful.
Rybrook Birmingham have a very well specified example with CF Nero/Alcantara seats and all the other toys. It has 5 owners and 23k miles and is up for £160k.
I’m nervous that I’d wait for months, watch prices rise and all the while not find a good example (happened to me with previous 911) so after thoughts on this example based on high(ish) ownership and 23k miles.
It’s got full FSH but obviously not the power warranty - Would that concern you? Any advice gratefully received. This is a bucket list purchase that I will likely keep for many years but don’t want to throw away my precious hard earned.
Have you bought it yet or waiting to see more cars hit the market before commiting ?My NY resolution is to become a Ferrari owner and I’ve decided on a Rosso Corsa 458 spider. Have read lots of posts and buyers guides from this forum and have been very helpful.

Agree its one of the better soec cars on the market at the moment but TBH the choice is so limited I think your options will improve if you can be patient for 6 weeks. If supply increases I can see this car dropping in price to remain competitive.
Hold your nerve a little longer would be my advice for what it is worth
160 seems a lot for that mileage. Numbers of cars available are the lowest ever I think prices have firmed though.
I always thought the 458 was underpriced. Speciales seem to have rocketed up over the last year too.
In short it is likely that more cars will appear but I suspect prices are going to break out this year particularly if supply stays so low.
Re warranty mu 2 year is up this year no plans to extend. From what I've seen it covers bugger all anyway.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, I saw it was deposit taken also, so perhaps I should’ve arranged a viewing after all. I do agree that in 7k miles it would take a hit in value and the condition also didn’t appear to be aligned with the price - but a perfect spec.
I’ll keep watching the market, and hopefully more examples will
come onto the market, ideally for private sale from a fellow member.
