I agree - in 2014 I was thinking about either buy my apartment or a CGT or an F50 - the CGT is my favourite car Follower by the F50 and they were c 300-350 and 400-450 euros - bought the apartment and didn’t want to take on debt fo buy a car, big mistake as now I will never own either one of them
I feel like the 550B will eventually be the same
I begged by dad to buy one for 140k at the time as I didn’t have the money and needed a daily (therefore bought an FF for 180)
Ah well
I think people will scratch their heads how they did not buy these even at 300 - it seems like a bargain compared to pretty much all other cars
My old man loved them when they came out and bought his when Egham had four of them lined up in the showroom. They were reportedly a gateway car to the Enzo, so I'd assume that the 'preferred customers' bought them, put a couple of hundred miles on them, probably realised that they were quite compromised without a proper roof, and handed them back soon after on sale or return

He kept an eye on the Sunday Times every week and watched them drop from above list, to list, to below list, and further... Eventually one of the four disappeared from the advert, we drove up there that afternoon and went in on the pretence of looking for a 360 Spider (which was bang on fashion, fetching a premium and completely out of stock there at the time!)

The old man gave me the brief on the way up to keep my gob shut, there was a back and forth and eventually the salesman said the magic words 'I'd really like to sell you one of these Barchettas today', the old man bid in the bks, the salesman went away to call the owner, and we picked it up the following weekend with about 50k knocked off the original sale price!

Funny enough the car he also lusted after was an F50, but he never quite could justify it to himself when they were circa 300k, as you say they've gone bonkers now!

You never really know though, best logic is buy it to drive it and enjoy it and hope for the best
That is very cool. Yes my main interest in values is what they do before I buy a car, don’t really care what happens once I own it and 550 B values are just a curio to me - I don’t get why they don’t cost much more especially in a country like the UK where everybody seems to love a convertible and I’d assume the roof is not really an issue for something that you definitely buy as a second or third car for sunny days.

Had my brother take some pics of my Scuderia, so I could - in theory. - put it up for sale to see if there are any buyers out there. If I do, then that is the point to buy one as the 2 road cars I sold were both at the bottom of their depreciation curve at the time I sold them….

I'd think you're right about them being relatively undervalued, though hard to say what they'll eventually be worth. Look at how Daytonas go up and down.

Every time I think about a 550M (a lot!) or one of these (occasionally...) I end up thinking they are too old to use a lot without thinking about reliability etc, or there are more comfortable options, but also too new to be 'classic'.
They are a bridge between old and new, which is a good thing if you want to use them, but probably means they are in no-mans land in terms of value as don't jump out at new or old Ferrari buyers.

It is hard to see how a good one of these doesn't become more sought after when they become 'classic' and they sit in garages or on a trailer to show with matching helmets included! I just don't like buying cars for that and it's a long time to wait in hope. There is also the practicality downside and in the end I can't get over the line. Do wish I'd bought the light blue one that sat at Joe Macari for a long time though (LHD)

You'd also have to think the less special 456 is currently undervalued relative to other stuff. another one I like the look of but can never convince myself I like it enough even with low prices.

Do live the 456 but have no use case for it as I love my FF (and it is so rusty / dog dirty that is is not sellable anyway)
