The article mentioned the 550 'bargain' sold recently at auction, but ommitted to say it was lhd
This is the car, up from £55k at auction to £70k at Hexagon. Looks good value with price of RHD equivalents above £85k now.

Cant see 550s rocketing but it certainly seems that prices are moving.
Hope not, it'll be 2 years before I can afford one and don't want to be priced out!

There was, until recently, an advert for a Barchetta with 22000 miles on it for £199,999. Advert now gone. I think there is also a 400 mile Barchetta at Stratstone Wilmslow where the owner os asking £350k!!! Makes the 550 coupe seem cheap! smile

Supply and demand I guess as there only seem to be a few for sale right now.

Pedantic is good! And while you're at please mention its towering torque; arguably along with its handling the 550s finest attribute. Can't be many other cars that can move off from standstill in 5th, possibly even 6th.

The torque is absurd. Almost too much - as in it would be fun to change gear occasionally! smile

Totally true, the torque is fab, something like 420lbft @5k rpm if I recall. So much fun just tickling the throttle in 6th at motorway speeds and shooting off hehe makes my overtaking in my old 355 feel a bit unnecessarily shouty and uncouth what what tongue out First trip I did in the car was to a damp Scotland, I gave up trying to overtake in anything lower than 4th gear as the rears just lit up/TC cut in hehe also nice being able to go sideways at will at brands hatch smile even nicer that it's dead easy to catch when it does biggrin

In reference to the article - why does it recommend against a red 550 ??

Because the front engined Ferraris are considered to be more mature and less shouty GTs, that are better suited to more subtle hues, although I personally still think they look great in red too. smile

Is there any reason not to consider importing from the continent, LHD aside? Seriously considering one at the minute, at about 30k less than here for the same mileage and condition. It's a long term purchase, and the only way I'm likely to be in the market tbh...

They're not all seventy grand - there's a red lhd in the classified here at fifty for example and no doubt a bit of work could source a similar rhd too

Yes, seen that one, but not keen on the lower colour coding, plus the paint doesn't match, plus the rear shelf audio put me off...

I've imported Ferraris from Germany and Holland with no problems at all. Not sure I'd do so from other Euro countries.....

These two look worth further investigation....

Haha!

I'm speaking to the dealer about the blue one tomorrow!

NL and DE are what I'm considering: brought a car from Germany with no hassle at all...

Yes. Hardly used it to date as I'd removed the RS spoilers and started putting it back to original when a pipe burst at home.....

Until about two weeks ago, I hadn't really considered LHD. Now I can't think of a reason not to, particularly as I've been holding onto a few Euros for a good rate that hasn't materialised...

In discussions with the dealer today, I discovered that the car had a new front axle at 28000kms!

This seems strange to me, even the dealer wasn't aware of any issue with them- any ideas?
