I changed the airbox on my 550 and got an instant thud more torque! He's absolutely right, small tweaks can yield big improvements.

Took the the family down to southern Spain in one ,usually take the daily but thought we would add a bit of glamour to our trip and it was left hand drive so good excuse.
What could go wrong ? well not a lot really and if we had been in the U.K wouldn't have been a problem, first one was the passenger door window decided to only go up and down at a angle so gave a triangle effect on our first petrol stop in Spain ,So high speed cruising went out the window excuse the pun and leaving it day or night was risky to say the least. This fault was mentioned by Lain in this video so not rare.
The air conditioning then decided to give up but wasn't a lot of use anyway with the window half open, That turned out to be a leaking air conditioning pipe unattainable in Spain at that time as the Ferrari factory were shut for their annual holidays ,same story for the part that we needed for the window mechanism so the guy at the garage did his best and managed to put the window in straight but warned if we used the electric switch either to open or close it this will happen again so rather take a chance just in case one of us forgets we had it disconnected.
Now we are in southern Spain in August in a Black with Black leather interior 456GT with only one front window working and no air conditioning .
So much for our glamorous arrivals at restaurants and hotels, Instead of looking cool on our arrival we looked like we just got out of the shower and forgot to dry ourselfs,This reminded me of collecting my first Ferrari a 308 GT4 with the air conditioning not working on the hottest day of that summer .
We could only use the car at night and that was just about bearable and in the end hired a Focus with one of the best air conditioning i've experienced for any running around during the day .
The next thing was maybe a little self inflicted but i noticed that the front tyres had worn on the edges alarmingly quickly so what with all the mishaps rather than take a chance on the return journey i had the alignment checked which turned to be way out but on close inspection one of the front tyres had a small split on the inside. After ordering two new tyres i was back a couple of days later having them fitted .
Apart from all the problems we still had a good holiday, not as glamorous as we intended but i'd gladly swop a Ferrari with only one opening front window and no air conditioning for a ice cold Fosus on a hot August day in Spain any time.
Her indoors was amazingly understanding as she didn't want to take it in the first place much preferring the daily Saab Aero .
Glad to say their was no further issues but a little disappointed that i had hell of a job trying to keep up with a very enthusiastically driven Jersey registered BMW M3 E46 on the way back and later even harder job passing a mad Italian who was ringing the neck out of a Mercedes E class Diesel judging by the smoke that was coming out of it's exhaust .
All in all these are a great GT car and probably the best value for money Ferrari today providing it's a good one and you only have to service it and pour petrol down it's neck , .
Only disappointment was i didn't think it was that quick off the mark but with four up and luggage maybe i was expecting to much ,If this happened now i would take it to Lain to have the throttle cable checked.
Now the kids are all grown up unlike their dad our last six trips to southern Spain have been courtesy of a left hand drive MX 5 with no issues at all,I got quite excited on one trip as water started pouring out of the overflow pipe but before i could get my spanner out it stopped, i topped it up and never did it again.

Lain is a clever chap who doesn't seemed to have lost any of his enthusiasm after all the years he's been working on these cars,
The way the information just flows from him and the ability how he gets his tongue round those Italian names that i would have trouble getting anywhere near pronouncing .
Shame he's so far away but there again he has cars from all over Europe left with him.

Is it just me or is his work website (cheshire classics) not working properly? On both for sale pages there are some cars where the links are missing and pictures dead. I suppose it could be that these are sold but it seems an odd way to do it.

Not sure but Lain traded as Cheshire Classic Cars Ltd and on the web site shows stock that he had some years ago also they are in a showroom that he doesn't seem to have now.
He now trades as Lain Tyrrell Classic Workshop and the phone number that is on the sign inside the workshop on the video's is different from the phone number on both his web sites.
He may have two trading companies, one for sales and the other for restorations but would be unlikely.
Had a look on google and it states that Cheshire Classic Cars Ltd was dissolved on the 13th of February 2019
. Only guessing but could that be someone else.

I was interested to hear Iain stating that the V12 engine is not really properly run in until 50k miles. So for c.£40k you could now buy an example, providing well maintained, that has had it's flaws sorted and is in many ways better than new.

After watching his video I had a look for the good 456s for £40k.

I couldn’t find one advertised for anywhere near that price. Am I looking in the wrong places? Or is the real asking price for a good one of these nearer £60k?

Could not find one any were near that price you say?
Was you looking specifically for a manual?
Because maybe he was talking about the 456 in general.
Here's the only one for sale on autotrader for 40k, and it's even just been broken in at 51k miles wink

Another on ebay for 34k.

One of the best channels on YouTube surely? And like everyone else I am now browsing 456GTs! As Iain took this one in p/x (it says in the video) maybe we’ll see it for sale soon on Tyrell’s classic cars website?

He doesn't appear to have any cars for sale or even a page for this on the new site. It rather seems a personal site rather than a business/garage/motorsales one like cheshire classics.

It's not immediately obvious from his website where the "for sale" cars are. However, they are there. You need to click on the box titled "Selected Cars" half way down on the right hand side on the front page. This then links straight through to the PIstonHeads classified listings for Iain Tyrell. No 456 showing at the moment - just a '57 T-Bird, a Jag V12 XJC and the rather tasty (at least to my eyes) "lipstick" SIII Espada that has been lurking in the background of a few of his videos.
