Then off to Maranello.

The A1 was a jam because of a bad accident and added nearly an hour. No matter the country, the 599 hates creeping along in traffic.

Stayed at Villa Maranello

Had dinner at Cavallino. The Beef was amazing!

Yet more evidence of why I consider Como to be the most annoyingly over rated irritating place on the planet if you are in a car.

I have to agree, not a place to be in a car, especially a big wide car, even so far out of tourist season.

Did you eat at Montana? Personally I think the food there is even better than Cavallino though both are great.

No, didn't get the chance to try anywhere else, just one night in Maranello before going to Milan

If you are still in Milan, the ADI design museum is worth a couple of hours of your time …..

You’re welcome. Doing my first Euro trip to Le Mans next year in the F8. Can’t wait. Happy new year.

Milan wasn't feeling very Christmas like so decided to go find a little snow.

Took the Simplon pass to Zermatt

The road was wet and temps dropped to 0 but the 599 remained sure footed and we got to Zermatt for lunch.

The sun came out in the afternoon and little more scenic driving.

The 599 is such a joy to drive.

Set any speed and she'll eat a motorway in comfort. Hit the mountain pass, preferably a nice wide one smile and you'll have great fun on the twisty bits.

Then she will slip quietly through Swiss villages without drawing too much attention yet you'll get smiles and nods from the people who know.

The best bit though was reving it up and doing skids in a car park for a couple of small kids. I'm not sure the parents approved but this kid was having fun bounce

Journey back to the UK was interesting this time Google didn't try to murder me and took me along some interesting roads over the Jura. D9, D47 and linked up to the N5.

Once on the motorway conditions deteriorated with heavy rain but luckily very little standing water so was able to drive at normal speeds.

However frustration abound as my deliberate choice of fuel station was devoid of super

banghead

Luckily there's a large reserve on this car and driving with the light on till the next station only resulted in 85 litre fill of a theoretical 110 litres

Know those roads around the Jura well Cake, used to live in Neuchatel. Were the roads clear of snow? Used to be damn nr 6months of winter and snow when I lived there 10yrs ago!

I'm sure we must have driven past eachother 10 years ago! I lived in Sciez, my wife was a frontalier, working in Genève for 6 years.

I used to ride my motorbike all over the Jura in the summer and take the scooby in the wintersmile

Much less snow than I remember for this time of year.
All the roads were clear.
The snow line was quite a way up and even then very patchy.
