Just back from a 9 day 2000 miles Munich (cars were trucked there we flew) to Bilbao (got boat back) road trip in my Stradale with two mates in 996 GT3's. Over the alps, Modena, Monaco, Provence, Pyrinees.
Absolutely amazing.
We drove most of the time like we had stolen them. Incredible roads, great surfaces, no traffic (we were up at 5.30am most days).
First time I'd done it. I will be doing it every year from now on!
Just do it!
Sounds like everyday were simply great days to be alive.
How i would love to do that in mine!! 👏🏻

Being PPF'd so I can drive it without undue worry about spoiling its unblemished paintwork. Only 4k miles in 14 years - Sacrilege..!
The sound at 7k revs is F1 banshee bonkers but below 7k is quieter than I thought it would be.
I was told there's an exhaust valve that opens at 7k which can be modded to be open all the time, can anyone verify this and confirm what I need to do.
Thanks.

The valves should open around 4k rpm, you can disconnect the exhaust valves so they remain open all the time. If you look down either side of the exhaust pipes you will see the valves with rubber pipes connections. Just pull them out and plug them with golf tees and tie wrap them to secure out of the way.
Adding sports cats adds another 50% of more sound.
Or you can decat and unplug the valves to get this ....

The car crashed in March 2012. It's a US spec car. Buyers beware.

I went out for a drive after a good month and a half
I seem to be having a recurring issue. The oil cap somehow unscrews itself and I notice it either when I accelerate and see fumes coming out the engine or when I an stationary and the oil pressure goes low.
I have tightened it before (as far as it would go) but it seems to still manage to come loose somehow.
I will mention it at the next service but wondered if others had this and if there are any easy fixes?

My CTEK charger is showing an error and not charging the battery however when I drive the car the battery does charge up and hold charge.
The CTEK lead has been connected directly to the battery by the dealer when I bought it.
Could it be that the CTEK is not working properly or is it possible that although the battery works perfectly if the car is driven there is somethign wrong with it?

I have had a few CTEK chargers go kaput. Try and push the button over and over again and hard as that sometimes works. It seems like its an inability for the charger to sychronise with the battery so it can start its cycle. The CTEK lead has been connected directly to the battery by the dealer when I bought it.

Actually I have not reconnected it yet but I will do this weekend and see what happens and will put on AGM and push the leads tightly.
The good news is that I have been driving it about and also did a nice round-trip blast to Goodwood Revival which should give the battery some juice for a while ...

Car's been in for a service and due to some unexpected sagging of the springs they had to be changed. I took the opportunity to do a geometry set up as well as change the tyres to Michelin Cup 2s.
Below the geo numbers. The ride height is 2mm above norm (112mm front and 132mm back)
For those that know about these things ... do you think I should ask them to redo the geo at the correct ride height or is it not that significant. Also any comments about the set up are more than welcome.

If you were my client, I would set a little more toe at the rear and take some out of the front - it'll transform the turn in. If you like to push on then dial in a bit more camber (but your current settings are on spec).
However the most important thing is that the ball joints and track control arms are solid. Even a small amount of play can really upset the handling of the car, especially at the rear.
