hi all

having spent the best part of 2 hours removing all of the adhesive foam from the front bumper, i am now keen on the nude look....as much for photographs and not having to photoshop....

not keen on driving without front plates.....

has anyone tried blue tack, or better, does anyone know what that stuff it is they use to hold your credit card to the letter...

Can you really see Blue tack holding a plate on at motorway speeds?

no, hence the question....

one half of the velcro will need to be stuck on the bumper though...

How about having a set of runners fabricated that slide the plate under the bumper when you dont want it visible, or, fitting threaded studs to the bumper and some sort of quick release wing nut to keep the plate attached when required.

3M makes a double sided tape that looks and feels a bit like the credit card sticky stuff. It is clear and the backing tape is red. There's no residue when you remove it.

the pre lp560 gallardo is actually very suitable for a plate, as you can see
it's not so much having a removable plate that i am keen on, but the nude and perfect front now seen...

sounds like what i need... will investigate... thanks

the stuff i removed left no residue, it was just a pain to remove, using a hydrocarbons based product, looking through the 3m stuff, not sure this stuff just rolls off like the credit card glue....

there is quite a big thread in general gassing on rolling with no plates... anyone here done this? are the BiB more forgiving if it is exotica? can you get away with a plate fixed to the sun visor?

You are driving a car not a fashion statement. Why buy a car and behave like you do? I really don't get it....

stated, whilst driving i am keen to comply with the law and wear front plates....i've brought the reg L4MVO and had new plates made up....

i am simply keen for when taking photos and at shows like wilson house being in the position to remove the plates with a minimum of fuss and effort FFS

In the past, for customers I've removed the bumper and bonded a steel plate or magnets behind where the number plate fits.
Then bonded a magnetic strip or steel plate to the number plate.

Never tried this on a car fitted with park sensors though.

70proof,i use 3m heavy duty velcro ,fluffy side on car.
The benefit of a black car is the velcro is less visible when the plate is removed.
Seems your plate has few digits ,like mine,i trim the left and right excess off the plate.
Which i think looks better.
Two screws is the best way but drilling holes would make me sick, that said you could get some small
caps to go on the screw heads ,paint them green, when the plate is off.
cheers

I recall Harsh's M3 had those silly LFC plates held on with blue tack a few years ago - they fell off in France.

I wouldnt worry too much.

It is going to get ruined if you put L4 MVO on it anyway.

I thought these threads would stop when he actually bought a car.

Blue tacking number plates to a Lamvo, and you're a Dr? laugh

If you don't want to put number plates on just have one on the front of dash in the window. I doubt you will have any problems.
