How does the LP550 - 2 compare with the equivalent 4 WD version ?

They don't seem to be that popular but are comparatively good value.

Any thoughts appreciated

Not driven a -2 but the LP560-4 I drove felt absolutely unflappable, very reassuring drive and easy to do silly speeds without any fuss. Handling is predictable and progressive.

i wouldn't be at all surprised if the uk population of 550-2s is down in single figures

Is that good or bad ?

I know the 4WD is very surefooted but thought rear 2 WD is what the real enthusiasts lust for.

LP550-2 Spec suggests lots of technical changes versus the 4WD version but does that add to the experience or as your reply suggests means it not a very popular car

Wouldn't want to have a lemon I couldn't move on it a years time if necessary

just an observation : i've never driven a '2

i suspect that in the short term it'll be a tiny, illiquid, market, but a super rare 2wd manual might be a good long-term investment. as long as you don't put any miles on it of course !

Thats kinda where I'm coming from.

In the Porsche world ( sorry I will wash my mouth out in a minute ) a GT2 is seen to be an iconic car based on the Turbo 4WD and holds its value incredibly well in comparison.

I know its not quite the same comparing LP550-2 with GT2 but I just wonder if they are a good buy.

For example Theres a 2013 one at HR Owen http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l... that looks pretty good to me ?

Random question, does the -2 have a bigger front boot by virtue of not having the drive train in the way? Or did they not bother to change that and make use of the available space?

The 550-2 we had at work had the same size boot.

I didn't get to to drive that car unfortunately, it sold so quickly before I had a chance.

At low speeds it certainly felt different, not as "clunky" as the 4wd cars if you know what I mean.

The weight difference must be ~50kg between the two, so not insignificant?

I'm of no help here but a manual LP550-2 is my dream Lamborghini.

I owned a 550-2 on a 60 plate. Manual. Loved it.

I'm not a great driver but FWIW I found it a very old school experience. It was a bit hairy in the wet.

I had no trouble at all moving it on when I wanted to.

Whats the e-gear like on a 2012/13 LP550-2 car ?

2 WD and manual would be my preferred route but does anyone know how e-gear compares with ferrari F1 and Porsche PDK

It sounds from what I have read a bit agricultural ?

The manual 2WD Gallardo is among the last of a dying breed. Most mid engined sports cars are using paddles and/or 4WD. I think these will be mega collectable in time.

drove an audi double clutch car for a day, thats my only experience of modern systems.....
the e gear is not as bad as made out by comparison..... maybe i tense my body, but my neck has never jerked, nor got sore, though i do see the passengers bobbing back and forth... biggrin

in attack mode, its very good, otherwise, a bit of toe lift makes it smooth.....
so, not as fast/smooth as a double clutch gearbox, but then where's the emotion in that, and skill....

The 550 is a very lairy car, loads of grip in the dry, much less in the wet. Manual gearbox is very smooth.
