There is a reason that owners of these keep calling them 'keepers'.
The inability to have any mug buy it.
Does pistonheads classified offer a deal for a 24 month advert for these?
It seems as though all the ones for sale have been advertised for that and more.
It was antiquated on launch about 15 years ago.
Partly agree. The inability to have any mug buy it.

I've hankered for one for a long time and have posted a fair amount on this thread about that.
The current owners and sellers wax lyrical about them, which is great..........but most of the cars have been listed for for a long, long time.........which means that the market for them is tiny........... and/or they aren't priced correctly........I would have bought the white one for sale when it was listed last July, but for me it's about £10k overpriced.........

Careful Sarnie, you will be accused of being 'strange' again for talking down the prices of stuff that doesn't sell.I've hankered for one for a long time and have posted a fair amount on this thread about that.

I'll survive.
But the fact they are ALL still for sale is indicative of them being too expensive.........
the market is always right but imo in this case it makes no senseBut the fact they are ALL still for sale is indicative of them being too expensive.........
the premium for a SL is just £10-20k over an ordinary gallado
can't think of any other lightweight special edition supercars commanding such a little premium
the murci SV trades at a much bigger premium but is still surprisingly cheap considering how few of them exist
I think that modern lambos just aren't that collectable in the eyes of the market

Even when Ferraris turn into the old cars of yesteryear, they are still Ferraris and on some level people would have one if they ever had the opportunity no matter how poor they maybe be compared to modern cars.I think that modern lambos just aren't that collectable in the eyes of the market
Lambo are not in this category.
Performante maybe bucks this trend but the only person I know whom was desperate for one sold after 9 months at a rather large loss as it was too noisy and uncomfortable for general cutting around in.
Over-optimism on the part of sellers is not unique to these cars. It is everywhere.
The fact of the matter is that it is more common than not for cars like this to be advertised at least 10% over where they should be BEFORE negotiations begin.
If you want to sell, you have to take a bit of a realism pill, take the value you think it’s worth, deduct about 10% and invite offers.
Or don’t sell and continue to enjoy these cars for the great cars they are.

this isn't trying to sell a pista at well over list or something deluded like that though, the actual parts alone are worth more than the price difference between a normal mk1 gallado and a sl on the market it's truly strange
slightly off topic but it's interesting to see how SLR's have finally appreciated in value, they were £150k a couple of years ago, £250k+ now and the special editions like the 722 £600k+!

MK1 gallardo's are circa £65k to £75k........so the SL's are listed £30k to £40k more than these. LP560's at £75k-£85k for 2008-09 cars.........I went to see the grey Eric Clapton car at Supercar rooms.......lovely thing on SOR but the owner was insistent on listing it for £125k......reduced to £115k now but still on sale.it's truly strange

The biggest shame is that these cars are sat being unused over all these years they are sat at dealers........

What are everyone's thought on the relative merits of the 4 Mk1 SLs currently for sale?
Assuming that are all in good/similar condition the black car looks to be the best value. But is the unpopular colour the reason for this cars cheaper price even given the lower mileage of the 4 cars currently for sale?

3. research the dealer
4. research the dealer. for me, the "personalisation" would need to be expensively reversed
5. this is the "knockhill" car: reference the previous page in this thread
