I fitted Larini sports cats to my pre-lp superleggera, I still have the oem cats and they look ok in terms of condition but the extra performance, noise and peace of mind was worth the cost.
can i ask who fitted them and what the cost was ?
Thought I would wade in - about £1,750 for the Larini CATs, and perhaps £500 to fit. I have a set for a pre-LP, but waiting for a service to come up before I fit them. BHP Motorsport is who will be fitting mine. Larini CATs will also pass an MOT, unlike a complete bypass.

As for front lift, I have it, use it once in a while to keep it working, but it is not really necessary. It does however come in handy for the really awkward humps.

I fitted them, straight forward job but imagine you'd get charged 3hrs labour at dealer. Cost of cats are on Larini website, can't remember exactly but approx £1.5k. They are not the ceramic material that is used in oem cats which can break down with misfires/overfuelling..potentially being ingested.. heard the same stories as above, but wanted proven free flow cats that wouldn't trigger the CEL ( misfire sensors need to be mapped out when decatting fully).

Edit: sorry, should have read whole thread before replying, already answered.. worthwhile job to do in any case!

I have front end lift on my LP. Only really used once getting on and off the ferry at Calais and Dover. Apart from that I just use the lift from time to time getting in and out the garage, it is not needed for that, but keeps the system working.

...First hand stuff...
That's pretty much made my mind up about job number one on whichever Gallardo I go for, and of course find a friendly MOT centre.
For the avoidance of doubt, the cats’ issue only affects the pre-LP cars with the 5.0 litre engines. The later, LP-series cars, with their 5.2 litre engines don’t suffer from the same problem. Given that bypass pipes are about £1k, fitting Larini cats (and therefore negating any MoT pitfalls) sounds a bit of a bargain. But it does sound absolutely bloody awesome without.......

Merry Christmas to you all!

Almost a year on and I thought I should update the thread.

Whilst ownership of a Lambo would be great, I just couldn't part with the Clio V6 that currently resides in the garage for 99% of the year.

It was a very informative thread and I appreciate the information that each of you have supplied - I hope you all enjoy your gorgeous, gorgeous Gallardos.
