Hey guys

I’m after some opinions. Having been tempted into entry level supercars by the CatD 458 on autotrader (and subsequently been put off) I’ve now found myself hankering after an alternative. I’ve come across this Gallardo and having spoke to the dealer first impressions are good. So I’m after some advice / opinions:

  • does this seem a fair price?
  • anything I need to specifically look out for on this model?
  • they only offer a 3 month warranty, is this too much of a risk?
  • opinions of residuals? I’m not a millionaire and will need to get as much money back out of this in the future. So being a special edition is it likely to hold value better?
  • any other advice?
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Thanks in advance

G Performante owner here... my humble opinions:

That is a lot of car for the money. (is this an ex-rental car ?|)

Clutch wear mainly & leaking front shocks / lifts - see below.

Not really.

Probably not, but if you use as intended the cost of depreciation will be more than covered by the sheer joy of driving these things with the top down and that glorious V10 barking in your ears.

Pay for a Lambo PPI and get the full lowdown on its condition including clutch snap / wear measurement. Remove as much uncertainty as you can about the condition of the vehicle.

Thanks for the detailed response. What made you ask about it being an ex-rental?

Ex rental gallardo are not a good buy, even if low miles

Do due diligence, I remember at least two red performances in crash pics, one was a rental

It the cheapest so it's a good deal

Yeah I think there were 4 or 5 RHD Rosso Mars 50th Performantes brought into the UK and two of them went into service as rental cars.

One of them had 19,000 miles ( and a new clutch!) on the clock when it was up for sale in 2016 so I doubt it's the one you're looking at.

Personally, I think if the PPI doesn't throw up any major issues and it's ex-rental history is reflected in the price, it would be worth considering - especially if you were thinking of owning it for a few years.

But.... rightly or wrongly; people generally do not like ex-rental exotics; so may be an issue when it becomes time to move it on.

Just had a quick look and can see Alphadrive supercar hire still list one. I can see Premier Velocity had one? Just need to work out if this is that one as I’m not buying it if so!

Never you mind

Didn't RamboLambo have a red performante spyder? Wonder if this is his old one.

Could be actually, I notice he had the wheels painted titanium, which the one I'm looking at has.

Yeah looks very similiar and there can't be that many red perfs that have the wheels that colour. In the balance of probability I would say it's the same car.

So the next question is was his car one of the 2 rentals doing the rounds in the UK? I've dropped him a message and pointed him at this thread, hopefully he has an idea of the history of the car.

I seen this too and it's pretty cheap compared to other models!

One thing though, it has the optioned carbon ceramics and they can be pretty pricey to replace if needed!

Yes I had spotted the carbon ceramics. They should last the life of the vehicle and as it's done less than 20k miles I'd be surprised if they needed replacing. Of course there is the scenario of damage to them, so I'd expect that to be picked up in a PPI.

It has had 6 owners so that could be why it is slightly cheaper than others.

6 owners on a Supercar that is 7/8 years old isn't that unusual I would think

Price has now come down to £99,995

There must be a reason this hasn't sold yet. This is a cheap car.

This is in my Saved list on Autotrader, the price keep fluctuating. It went down to just under £100k a few months back, then they put it back up to £106k, now back down again?? When they first put it up again, I assumed they had managed to find out some more history about the car (I'd raised concerns about it being an ex-rental, they tried going back but hit a brick wall)

One thing we did work out, it was first used in Italy as a press car. Made to UK spec obviously. But was unsure if that meant it was classed as an import? There were quite a few question marks around it, that's why I walked. That being said it could be fine, I just wasn't going to take the risk. Lovely looking car though and I do occasionally go back to it thinking whether I should take the gamble. Maybe if it dropped into the 80's?...... smile

Not a huge fan of red or spyders however the bodywork has a small downward dip (first picture) just below the passenger windscreen which gives it a very slight Zonda-esque styling that makes that look utterly stunning.

Probably worth googling the dealership too.

They used to have a bit of a rep, but seemingly nothing to be found.

Have been a couple of threads on here over the years, but nothing recently.
