I am thinking of getting a HP and would like to do the occasional trackday in it but can see that noise may be a problem. How do people get round this or do they not do trackdays in a HP in the UK?

I've only done Bedford in the UK and I almost failed the static test with a V12VS and my current 570s, meant I had to short shift past the noise sensors on circuit (-about 4 of them)which obviously takes away a little from enjoying the day. Think most UK tracks are the same so with a Performante I'd say failing the static test is a possibility. Better to head over to Spa or the Ring much higher noise limits so better suited to cars like that.

Would be interested in this too.

I would presume you leave it in strada mode and cross everything.

Knockhill don't seem to care about the noise! great little circuit in a lovely part of the world... You could continue up and so the NC500 afterwards!

Donington, Silverstone or Anglesey best bet. I'm sure Donington & Silverstone both do no noise test days, but they're very rare / organiser specific. I can't find one now but definitely MSV have done unlimited days at Donington in the past.

Many thanks for your responses. I think the answer is to get a quieter car in order to be accepted at most trackways.

I did a couple of trackdays in my Perf coupe a year or two ago, absolute blast on track with 4 wheel drifts easily achievable even with my very limited driving ability. I've seen a couple on Silverstone on noisy days and I have been around Rockingham in mine (unfortunately closed now). So in summary there are track days you can get on but they seem to be more exclusive, therefore expensive.

It's getting a bit ridiculous isn't it
Do residents who relocated next to an airport complain to their local council too ?

Yes I find this a bit annoying. Fine if the track was built after you moved in/houses were built, maybe an argument.. but more cases than not the track was there before they moved in!!

I have a Challenge Stradale and have the same issue. With a standard exhaust I have between 116-119db static and c. 109db drive by.
You can only do unlimited noise days. want2race.co.uk do 3/4 a year in Donnington. I was able to get one in Silverstone with Goldtrack once but there is slim pickings after that. Even Spa has 107db drive by. I am not sure if the performante is a bit "quieter" but you will struggle.
There are silencers you can fir to the back of your exhaust but I've never done that.
It is ridiculous that they make a car for track and then tracks dont allow it on ... and soon it will not be allowed on public roads either with the new noise cameras.

Local councils need to show some understanding to the car & motorsport industry. A few hours of car sounds once a month at a historic circuit needs embracing
