Discussion
The other funny bit is that even the most anoraky of 'motoring communities' with 'engaged car enthusiasts' are most active on the bits that aren't really about cars. That's true of how most boards and forums tend to be. Or is Pistonheads forums really seen as just General Gassing, the Lounge and a few bits and bobs of token 'motoring' elsewhere?
I might want to talk about cars sometimes, though personally I'm more interested in owning and using unless there's something specific to talk about. Been there, done that, modded on a site or two, got over it. The other discussions are more engaging.
It's also notable that while this might fix some issues it definitely won't hit some of the really prolific (bulletproof) posters who contribute to making NP&E the joyful place it can be on certain subjects...

Are there?! My contributions to NP&E are minimal at best, but surely it would be a contender for PH's largest forum? This could represent a massive change.
On the full webpage (ie. not mobile) you can see the forum counts - General Gassing is top with 7.8 million, then NP&E (3.6 million), the Lounge (3.2 million)pquinn said:

On another note, was it here or somewhere else I saw linked to a podcast about bots and twitter, how ai has got so advanced that 2 bots where having full blown argument with each other. Or how there's groups on Facebook that's made up of 95% bots and the rest humans causing massive echo chambers.
Does make you wonder how many bots are on here though. Joya of anonymous forums I guess

...i rarely post anywhere else on PH, so I for one will be unable to post further on NP&E unless I make an arbitrary 1,000 posts elsewhere on the forums....
You've been here for 25 months and have over 1700 posts to your name, so why wouldn't you be able to post? The question is how many of Roderick’s 1700 posts are in the motoring forums. It seems that he may know the answer to that.

There are some, they seem to be advertising bots from what I have seen and they are removed quickly.
Yeah, I've seen those but it wouldn't surprise me if there isn't bots on here being 'argumentative'.An alternative option would be to ban the over 60s from npe, do wonder if the forum would be quieter or have an over 60s only section so old men can shout at clouds/each other

Anyway, at present I'm still able to post and comment in NP&E, so maybe the rules mean 1,000 general posts? To weed out the prolific trolls with their repeated new accounts?

New member 12 mths after joining would have had to posted 1000 posts in non NP&E sections to be able to post in NP&E
Not sure the PH architecture is clever enough to decide if you have met target 1000 posts in non NP&E???
So if you meet criteria of "more than 12 mths" as a member on here and "more than 1000 posts" at rule implementation today then you can continue to post in NP&E

No, no, no. It’s worse than that!..but then again, I would not be comfortable talking about my personal issues online..
I can understand the time limit, and I can understand having some sort of quanitity limit, but 1000 posts seems like an arbitrary figure that many engaged posters will not hit for possibly several years. It's like being stood on the naughty step after some big boys did it and ran away, repeatedly.
Mind you, I had to write this post to realise I actually qualify, go me!
I did think I had about half that many posts though.

1000 posts in a motoring forum is a lot.
I realise that some post a lot in the NP&E forum but I hardly post, unless I have a question or comment, but do take interest in a lot that is posted. It seems that I will be one of those unable to post in NP&E even though I have been a registered member for eons.
