Hi Ian, 1120094 is the formerly blue LP400 that Mike Lake owned for many years. That car was red and had a wing and was registered HYY5. I have a photo of it as HYY5, and dvla Info saying it went from HYY5 to LGF849N in August 1985, so I think the Straight 8 car is 94, not 26. I agree with you - I think JYH928N was in fact JYH292N and the car above and Ministers recollection are of 1120094… but I’m happy to be corrected! RM auctions sold 1120026 in London 2010 and their catalogue referred to the car as registered HPP 5 in the 1980s and exported to Florida, before coming back to the UK and taking the registration JYP 43N.
1120094 was blue in 1975/6, when I saw the car several times in my local area.
Later I have seen 1120094 in silver and now in red.
The YH letters were assigned to London registrations, and could have been present on several Countachs.
The HYY 5 reg has similarities to HPP 5, excuse me for asking, but is there certainty with this registration.

I have checked - you are right - it is HPP5..... but that makes it more weird. The car at Straight Eight displayed the number plate HPP 5.

I shot that Countach in the studio for RM, and on the same day shot a yellow ex-Rod Stewart Miura, as I recall.

The original owner was allegedly Young Business Person Of The Year and the car Del Hopkins told me that the car was originally ordered by a Manchester hairdresser and that it’s the only one with the blue/white leather. Have you still got the black one you had at the time?
Do you still have the tyre business - there’s a branch near me in Highworth!?

The person i bought it off had lost his licence and said he was a racing driver!
Did you realise that on the cover of the Jeremy Coulter book is your car being driven by Balboni and further pictures inside,
The black car you mention was red and is the one Path now owns.

I have relied on the posting from Victor and entries in the Lamborghini Registry that 1120026 displayed the registration HPP 5.
The information you have on the change in registration appears to challenge the above, which is always interesting.
I have only seen old log books from the DVLA/C and wonder what your report comprises?
We do have the car advertised by the Epping Motor Company in 93/94, which refers to one registered owner since 1976, which may not be consistent with the car for sale in 83 and the export to the US.
Also to add to confusion a 1974 LP400 red with tan was advertised as a car located in the US in 1996 Classic & Sports Car.
To my knowledge only one RHD car was manufactured in 1974 - chassis 26, which appeared with a white interior in Supercar Classics in 1988 and in the Epping Motor Co advertisement.
Perhaps we can ask the Facebook / fchat community for further assistance

Hi Ian, I suspect we’ll never know!! My data is a report from the dvla.
Of course HPP5 could have been on both 1120026 and 1120094…. the owner of HPP5 could have owned 1120026, sold it, then bought 1120094 and painted it red! Anything is possible. DVLA data isn’t necessarily accurate either!

Solved, one of the dozen typos on this sheet, the first one is HLA12038 - not HLA12083.

Yes that is correct, these were Mike Pullen's events. I went on and off between 1988 and 1992 I think.Similar events were held at castle Combe but these tended to be the De Tomaso drivers club events.

The Van Der Steen advert most likely appeared in CAR magazine late 1972 or early 1973. I was working at V D S at that time.
The Mazda in the advert was registered in August 1972. In June 1973 the Van Der Steen name was used to advertise Lamborghini but that part of the company had split and operated from 58 Southwark Bridge Road, S E 1. As per the attached advert.
A few months later Van Der Steen no longer had Lamborghini and the GB concession moved including myself to 5-6 Yarmouth Place Brick Street. W 1.
There were two main motoring magazines at that time, MOTOR and CAR. Due to an unfortunate incident with an Espada loaned to MOTOR magazine Lamborghini decided to no longer advertise in MOTOR magazine.
The Countach in the advert went on to be the crash test car and this same photo was used in Van Der Steens brochure for the October 1972 London motor show.
The advert below appeared in the August 1973 CAR magazine that featured a Countach road test. I could be wrong but my thoughts are that your advert appeared in CAR magazine. Hope that helps.
