8 year old 12C offered by a main dealer + 2 year McWarranty.

Maybe they are buying up used stock?

I received a call today from the dealer who services my car essentially offering a loyalty bonus with anyone wanting to move on from a 12c/650S to a new car. I said I`d want to p/x 2 cars (12c/430 Cup Exige) if I were to do anything...interesting to find out what sort of deals are being offered...
Don't do it! IMHO you have 2 of the best cars ever made. Having owned (own) both myself. The 12C is still the best looking McLaren they made (bar the F1) and plenty fast enough. The 430CUP is rare as hens teeth and an unbelievably great car. Only 25 RHD in the UK , 22 sold in 2018 and 3! in 2019 so I doubt many more around. Lotus will not be making cars like that again. If you have one its worth keeping hold of.

Don`t panic Bispal...it would have to be some crazy deal to get me remotely interested and its hard to see how you can have a more intoxicating (in the world we live in) drive than an Exige...

Is it a typo in their advert?

My guess is the advert title is right (2 years) as it's written for that car ad - the warranty tab might be part of a standard advert template so shows 1 year.

Could be wrong though but still rather confusing.

Are dealers only calling to take cars in as part-ex against new cars or genuinely looking for new stock and making offers to current owners..?

Having had a couple of conversations now with the dealer, it would seem that they are very keen/desperate to sell some new cars (predictably) and are offering a not unreasonable part ex price for your older car. Whichever way you look at it you are going to take a big hit buying a new car and the not unreasonable offer in no way compensates for this. Still if you really want a new car, then it`s a good time to buy especially if you can p/x.

You may find that you are unable to buy any new factory built cars as they have stopped UK production . Of course plenty of already built new cars around

Gents,

Unless you are a fan of hybrid or electric cars

Go and buy a supercar now, because future doesn’t look promising for internal combustion engine only supercars.

More strict emissions, noise regulations, CO2...hard times coming and

here I say, very convinced

Best supercars to buy will be the ones produced till 2019.

As said, unless you want to cope with heavier and hybrid cars.

I’ve been thinking this for a while. Hence took the plunge and bought a 570s.

Yep, same here - it was a big factor in my decision to buy the 650.

Yes and in 2022 al new cars will need to have the European speed limiters fitted as standard from new.

I know it can be overridden by the driver in certain circumstances but is just another pain in the arse to have to deal with.

Like all things in life, sometimes there are windows of opportunity to purchase great cars at a very good price.

I've heard that Sytner just recently purchased (allegedly) a huge amount of stock from McLaren?

Any truth in this and has anyone heard the same or is it just a rumour?

And for me the reason to upgrade from 570S to 600LTS now: a noisy flame spitting monster.

Aye - these cars are part of the last of the line - bit like Concorde - but we owners will be able to tell our grandkids we owned one and they could do over 200mph smile - of course they will never believe us.

Progress smile

Has anyone actually taken up the offer and called back the dealer? Are they really buying back or just offering you money on your existing vehicle if you spend more money to buy stock they have lying around? Of which there is a LOT?
