Ok being a bit cheeky but any Mclaren owners in and around Aberdeen. I stay in Ab42 postcode but happy to travel up to meet to view cars to get a better idea of what to look for etc
Was not expecting to find another Peterhead local on the McLaren forum! I don't have one to let you have a go of unfortunately just someone who aspires to own one at some point. Good luck finding the right car.

Wow that is stunning, Damn now I am thinking maybe a Spyder is a better choice lol
Yes it is. If only for the ability to drop the rear window which makes all the difference in the world for the noise inside the cabin. I don’t think I would go for a coupe, just for that reason alone.

Maybe don't post your mobile number on a public forum?

Also don't get a 12c. They look really dated compared to the 570

Agreed, I think that the 12C is ageing very well

Bit of a sweeping statement there!

I think the 12c looks better every passing day and its very smooth lines are setting it up to be a future classic.

I also think that in a very short period of time the 12c shall command more money than the 5 series range.

There was a mention before that the rear of 540 etc was the new family look for the rear of McLarens, but the newest car the launched ( the GT ) has went back to the simplified rear with straight led lights.

Just because something is 'current' now does not mean it won't look dated in a few years.

Totally agree.....12 months ago i visited a Mclaren dealer to purchase a volcano red 12c. Dumped at the end of the lot with gleaming newer 570s 570GTs and 720s it looked old and tired in my eyes. Visited the very same dealer yesterday to confirm purchase of a 570s spider and there at the end of the lot in the same place again was a white 12c. I very nearly stopped my purchase. The 12c car looked lower, wider and more 'supercar" to me.

Definitely think the 12c will rise above the 5 series in the future and If I was a younger person looking for a 'reasonably priced' mclaren that will gain value thats the one I would go for!

The 12c now and pretty soon to follow 650 are the Mclarens that you are going to lose the minimal amount of money on with depreciation.

Buy a 12c now and you could maybe sell it for the near same in 12months.

Thorneys latest video shows how, contrary to current belief, McLarens are pretty reliable and get better with every mile put on them.

I use mines almost daily if possible for both long and short journeys, and like Thorneys, in all weathers unlike my last Ferrari.

Although still swithering over going for a 675 spider, if i keep hold of mines, Thorneys video makes me wonder if i really need to extend the warranty...since October zero faults and instead of paying £4700 for a years warranty do i self warranty?

Most likely i would extend but it does make you think.

I thought the same. My warranty doesn't run out until August 2021, and I'd assumed I would definitely renew it. But that video made me wonder if I should.

+1. I certainly prefer the well integrated look including the high mounted exhaust tips and spoiler. The 570s is a bit too rococo for my taste. All subjective, of course.

I think theres a market for 5xx and 12C, ones a bit more powerful and technologically advanced. The other is nearly as fast, more modern and less complex. Now both are going out of production I'd expect to see them settle price wise. Helps that a 5xx warranty is 3k p.a.

I think there is a market for all McLarens...nothing looks like them or goes like them; you just need to have an open mind and be willing to put the negativity aside and find out how they are yourself.

Due to their age, the 12c and 650 are starting to find the sweet spot of where their value lies; the depreciation won't be £10000+ a year moving on.

The 5 series are newer and mostly still under original warranty, however there are more of them about so we don't yet know where their sweet spot regards to value might be.

All are stunning with amazing presence, so no right or wrong car to go for.

Its strange, as up until about 18mths ago the 12c just didn't do anything for me, but now it is very appealing; this 12c at Alistair Bolls in my eyes looks lovely, and it seems impossible that it would lose more than 10% of its current ask price within 12mths.. but what do i know?!

I totally agree the 12C id again well and if Mclaren offer a discounted service programme they will be well maintained.
The wing mirrors on the look so coolant worth the asking alone for .
That yellow Spider does look nice . I personally think they will settle at £60k for a coupe and after that depreciation will be dictated by mileage / condition rather than age
Lets see how they are in 1 years time

Same as op, i’ve been shopping for a comfortable open top that can do the occasional track day, first i tested the AMG GTC roadster and fell in love, then proceeded to test loads of the other candidates the last 2 months and deleted the R8, C7 Z06, ZL1 comaro, F-type + more.

Ended up back at the AMG yesterday as its ride (on ride control) was acceptable for continent cruising but then spotted the 650 spyder had dropped to a similar price, never even considered one of these as i thought theyd be 150k + tbh.

Can someone comment on how they ride? Is the suspension selectable? if so, what they compare to in terms of ride / comfort on longer hauls?

The thought of a comfortable supercar with a retractable hardtop that looks like the 650 Does gets me pretty excited tbh, though the thought of how to get it serviced where i am is a little more worrying..

650S has 3 suspension settings. It's the most comfortable car I've owned.
