Well...
The numbers to some degree are irrelevant - every supercar made in the last ten years is a better performer than almost every driver and ‘real’ situation.
It looks good, but it is to a 570 when an F8 is to a 488, I’d have liked to see something new.

That is an awesome achievement by McLaren. It makes the Ferrari SF 90 "technical masterpiece" as Autocar called it look rather daft and at a price that should make Maranello blush.

I'm impressed that they have gone for a genuinely clean sheet engine design instead of a version of the V8.

I can see some market resistance to "only 6 cylinders" but 200bhp/litre is shockingly good.

It will be interesting to see if the power curve has been pushed up the RPM range with the e-motor used to torque-fill in the mid range.

Sounds like a lot of work has gone into this.

Don't forget the Ferrari equivalent is due in a couple of months ie V6 hybrid to replace F8

Yes, they needed to know what technical numbers to copy and try to match on their special factory tuned samples of the new model.

Do we know where the batteries are located? Curious if they've managed to keep the additional ballast close to the centre.

Looking at the website, seems to be a flat slab under the seats/bulkhead

Come on, clearly waiting for replies like yours to fuel his otherwise pitiful day. Don't bother, anyone with half a working grey cell would see the substantial changes from a 570S. And in the case he's blessed with one, wonder how he feels at every new 911 launch? Must really question all his long, arduous days to await a launch!
Why the odious, gratuitous, personal attack?
It’s a discussion about cars ffs.
Trolls like you are ruining PH for the majority.

So you believe OP's post to be justified? Not liking a car is one thing. Perfectly acceptable to talk about merits, dislikes etc. But to insinuate that the artura js no different to a 570S is downright daft and ignorant. I will call him out for it.

Wonder how you would have felt if he'd made that same post in the lamborghini section...?

Pure, personal trolling.
Nothing to do with car design.
Of whatever brand.

Yes, as I said, I will call him out on it. I'm not trolling, just insulting. IF he had made a decent attempt at critiquing the Artura in the first place we may well have had a discussion on hand. This thread was doomed from the start. Fortunately, many other decent threads exist. If you truly believe I'm a troll I invite you to search my previous comments on said decent threads.
You haven't answered me anyway. Think his comment is justified?

I suspect the TCO for the F owner would be substantially less after 2-3 years of ownership.

Are you daft? The SF90 has 1000 horse power and is in a different league altogether from a performance point of view.

Nobody posts over there hence why the come onto the Mac forum and generally try to cause bother.

It is comical that Porsche churn out another version of the GT3 that gets fawned over and yet its just another version of the previous version that was a version of another version; a bit like what Ferrari have since around 2010 to similar plaudits.

With JLRs massive announcement followed by Fords today, the game that was being changed has just sped up; all the manufacturers shall follow suit wayyy quicker than anticipated.

Whilst petrol shall still be produced for a very, very long time, taxation and constantly increasing areas that ICE cars shall be prohibited shall unfortunately make it tricky and expensive to enjoy an ICE supercar.

Really looking forward to the reviews to see how good it actually is....because it needs to be, and not just for McLarens sake.

Im not convinced that will be the case tbh. The Ferrari production numbers and model changes have changed the landscape markedly. 488, F8 and 812 prices have been hammered in the quest for turnover and shareholder profit.

Agree they don't compete at same level. Want to see Chris Harris do a Top Gear track lap time with the Artura to see where it sits. Has anyone seen how much front trunk space Artura has? SF90 has none, well perhaps enough for a woman's handbag.
