600 LT's with carbon louvred wings yet no carbon exterior?
Discussion
Somebody on the owners group is selling a set of OEM front and rear discs for 600LT for £5k.
As I said, I was given prices for 675 and 650 from an official McLaren service centre. The 675 they'd just done was literally parked next to me while we were discussing it so unlikely they'd got the price wrong.
Funnily enough, as part of the discussion I said that I'd seen prices of £20k quoted on the internet, and the service guy said that was wildly inaccurate.

Thank you, 8k is not bad, even better if a set can be had for around 6k too.davek_964 said:

5k is a bargain for ceramic disc, you got a link for this owners group please? As I said, I was given prices for 675 and 650 from an official McLaren service centre. The 675 they'd just done was literally parked next to me while we were discussing it so unlikely they'd got the price wrong.

You can only join if you own a McLarenRef. Orange colour, I was just reflecting on the fact that there’re not orange cars for sale on Pistonheads.
Possibly few hidden in dealers stock pages.

The brake discs point is an interesting one. I have seen many McLarens with very low mileage having discs which look pretty worn to the eye (dull inconsistent appearance and a very rough looking surface) Vs say Porsche or Lamborghini CCBs which always seem to have a shiny smooth appearance despite higher miles. Is this just a manufacturer thing where one brand CCBs shows wear different to others?
McLaren New Forest have three cars:Red Spider comfort pack with 17k miles - the brakes look new and they confirm they sold this car new to its current owner and has done no track work to their knowledge, the brake condition would seem to confirm this, looks a superb condition car and is very well priced due to high miles but most likely easy miles.
The orange spider they have I tracked down it’s original owner who confirmed track use and the brakes on this car look heavily worn and it’s done less miles at 12k
The green car at 9k miles and a whopping 175k brakes look a little worn so maybe some track miles.
It seems the brakes wear quick with track work but are fine with road driving, as McLaren will charge you around 20k for new brakes it seems a big area of caution they should be smooth and not pitted if in good condition. If they are rough and appear pitted they are more worn so either avoid or use to get
Price down or new brakes fitted as part of the deal.
Anyone considering track work should maybe consider steel options or a set of surface transforms.
As per the other thread with your reference to brake discs wearing, since ownership and 5 trackdays and another coming up, the discs on my 570s are fine, it's just been serviced and I'm sure if mclaren felt they could punt some discs into me due to wear they would, but all good on the health check.
Whilst it may be a "thing" with the cars you've seen it is not universal across the board just because the cars have been on the track for balance to your point.

Several cars with rough ceramic disc.
So maybe the issue is because these cars were always a 2 year love affair for many they have not been looked after to the same levels of other models which were not purchased on such crazy PCP deals.
In short 600 LT's were purchased, abused and ragged for two years and then simply handed back and that was always the plan for some of the owners and is now showing in the quality of some of the cars for sale.
The 600 LT is amazing, I want one but as a potential buyer searching for one I've come across said issues and I am just sharing my experiences on the forum.
By doing so I have learnt that a set of ceramic disc can be had for circa £5000 so its not the crazy expense I originally thought it might be, but still to help other potential buyers we should share both the good, bad and the ugly.
Does anyone know this car:

For me it’s perfect spec, volcano yellow, MSO black pack, MSO louvres and other decent options and a good price at 155k.
Just it’s at some random dealer who does not seem to specialise into supercars but it has got warranty.
Wondered if anyone knew the car please?

Its a March 2020 car so warranty expires March 2023.
Its only extended warranties that require a minimum 3 months remaining in order to transfer to the new owner.
Personally think its one if the best if not the best available at the moment.
Very rare in VY; that's a stunning colour in the flesh that pictures just cannot show.

Shame it’s so far away but yes this VY I do like only downside is no external carbon packs. My other favourite is the one at Birmingham which has less miles and is also absolutely spotless, has carbon packs 1 and 2 plus senna seats, downsides are no MSO Louvre or sills but it’s got senna seats. Its only extended warranties that require a minimum 3 months remaining in order to transfer to the new owner.

Maybe market is slowing considering the yellow one has been around since start of August, so for me guess a case of is it worth waiting a few more months to see if similar spec cars drop another 10k or so.

Even though they state "MSO black detail" in the ad if you read the full spec on the PDF the car doesn't have the MSO black pack, it is dark palladium...not a big issue but the black pack is an expensive option, can't see it on the price list posted but I know on the 765 it was £14K.https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/13684313

I’m told by another potential buyer of this car they backed out as supposedly the car was previously tuned and tracked, which was then sold by McLaren to a previous or previous owner which created a court case. That is all I know but think it’s one to skip on as alarm bells ringing, no doubt why it’s not sold.
Whats your concern over a Mclaren being tracked, there are plenty of owners who track them, i get the being tuned part but a Mclaren thats been tracked should be no concern at all, much more confidence inspiring than a garage queen.
If that advert is to be believed its had an mpi from Mclaren for warranty purposes and all good with no work required, it cant get much more comprehensive.
