I think it looks fab in silver.

But if you’ve doing it, how about one of the strong McLaren orange colours…

Well done to you sir!! brave buy that has well and truly paid off, If V give the seal of approval you have a great car. I also love the silver. It's time to drive the wheels off it.

The silver looks great. As my interior designer / decorator wife would say - it’s an adult colour - unlike the Barbie adolescent pastels she hates.

I see this is up for auction on eBay now. If V engineering are going over it with a fine toothed comb it could be a good buy

The OP's "McLaren 12C for sale" eBay listing has people asking a lot of questions already answered by the listing

Less of a diary, more of a postcard...

I was hoping this would develop into why you should own one, and use it often..

I watched a video on YouTube this morning in which Collecting Cars spoke to John Thorn (?) of Thorney Motorsport about 12Cs and what to look out for when buying one.

The discussion moved to values. The man from Thorney said that a 12C had recently been sold for £46,000 but that it needed £25,000 spending on it.

If they're speaking about this car, then I think it is slightly unfair of CC to shaft their customer in this manner!
That said, he might have been referring to another £46k 12C?

CC are just a platform, buyers are fully aware of the associated risks, or should be.

CC didn't shaft anyone (well, not any more than they do in every auction, since they fleece literally everyone with their exorbitant fees). They are just a platform, like eBay or Autotrader.

There are plenty of 12Cs around, a fair few of which change hands before they hit the web, can't assume he was talking about this one.

He says that in every other video. Almost like he’s trying g to sell a warranty. This one has been at v Eng, who don’t perpetuate doom.

If this car is at V and the seller is happy for a buyer to talk to them about condition then it will give great piece of mind before buying it.

It looks like the car sold on ebay this afternoon. I agree that it was a shame that this didn’t develop into a ‘long termer’ type thread. I’ve always had a 12C itch but I’ve worried that the sense of occasion might be missing.

A 570 on Mclaren London dealer plates drove past me today in Knightsbridge and it sounded very dull.

I think that I might be more interested in the sound of a supercar rather than the speed. My 2007 Maserati Quattroporte sounds so much better than the 570 did today.

Now the 12c is sold it’d be great to hear from the OP on the decision process that lead to the fairly quick resale.

I saw this on eBay and recognised it as the car that was sold via Collecting Cars and the McLaren specialist then did a video of saying it needed £25,000 of work that wasn’t disclosed. But I am wondering why the seller didn’t sell it on again via Collecting Cars?

Are you certain the video with the £25k of work was this car?
I thought that was the volcano orange car that's been on AT for £60k for months

I don’t think you did. It’s not been to the only “specialist” that makes vids claiming cars need £5897666666668997 worth of work
