Why is the one at Anthony James not selling, the blue one?

Not true, they are sale or return unless they are their own.
Is this not just the fixed fee for his sale or return service? You can see what happens, sellers put this cost on to the sale price and then some, making the Thorney cars all about 10k over

Yes, as I found when I viewed it a year ago (at which time, they neglected to mention the colour change in the ad). There are also a few other reasons (that I discovered later) that mean I wouldn't touch it.

Thorney get an upfront fee for selling the car of £4500

Is the fee not upfront then? I might be wrong on that, I just assumed based on the website. The £4500 pays for a full service, detailed pre-sale inspection including way more than would be covered my a normal service as they are guaranteeing the condition, full detail and pre-sales prep and 2 months on-site storage. I figured that with all that upfront work on their part Thorney would charge the owner, but I don't actually know either way.

If they offer that with a flat fee of £4500 and no costs if the car doesn't sell then that's a good deal in my experience.

I'd say some cars are better than the not quite so good.
What would you say makes a good car - spec, condition?
Spec', condition, history, colour, mileage (not starship but sure not too few either) number of owners. I also where possible would take notice of owners attitude/history too but realise not always possible.

Colour, interior change, lack of external carbon? its been reduced, should be £80ish?

Ultimately we all set the prices by what we will pay. However we are the sellers as well and usually want the best price possible.

Each car is different, spec, condition, colour, history, percieved support from the seller, warranty, time of year, spider or coupe - all drive each of our wants. If the car we have been waiting for 2 years turns up at £5k over our budget, you have to balance that extra cash over waiting even longer.

I wanted a bright colour, warranty, peace of mind and a high spec, especially carbon. Thorney gave me all that. I would probably sell through them or at the very least get a Thorney PPI to give the purchaser confidence as well.

Thanks everyone, I wouldn’t have spotted that for sure. Appreciate it.

There is a blue coupe with red interior that was low 70s then weirdly was priced over 80k now is just under 80k very odd.Seems prices are all over the place I agree Thorneys cars are a fair chunk priced over other cars.I don't get it how spending say over 75k for a car from a dealer or specialist independent you wouldn't get a min 1 year warranty with it I assume buying from a main dealer you would ?.Surely one would buy a private car and self warranty the car and save oneself a good chunk of money. They are definitely the best bang for buck for the money and so many cars have been advertised for a fair while so I would have thought there are some good deals to be had with a bit of haggling.

A minimum three month warranty applies to any used car sold under consumer protection although some dealers do circumvent this by calling them trade sales. Independent dealers will generally provide 90 days because they are required to that minimum standard of time. Some of these are very flimsy warranties again just to meet minimum requirements. I saw a high end car (not McLaren) at a prestige dealership in Surrey which had a 90 day warranty but with possibly one of the worst warranty providers out there.

Pretty much every franchised main dealer offers 12 months under manufacturer approved schemes and if you push hard it's usually possible to negotiate an extension into it.

This looks like a bargain

Seems like 650S have dropped £15-£20k in a year

Sketchy ad, no service history mentioned, a few things to check before confirming a bargain.

I've just bought a 650s spider. Looking everything for sale, this is the only other that's sensible.

a lovely car i've seen in the flesh. some of the thorney ones are expensive and 'low' spec without carbon.

however at circa £90k a 650s must be the best buy out there for the money?
That looks really nice.

UK McLaren owners club. Best way to get in contact is via the Facebook group.
It costs something around £70 a year but the expertise available is worth it alone, and then there’s lots of events too.
