He was the first guy I spoke to. He was the guy that the 2nd salesman said he would refer to before calling me back. He was the guy I emailed directly asking if there was any issues getting the information.
I think I’ll pass on them. First impressions and all that.
Fair enough, just trying to help as found them very good to deal with. I think I’ll pass on them. First impressions and all that.
Im aware the owner of the car has a massive colllection, so unfortunately it probably just isnt a priority for him to return calls.
Good luck with your search.
The salesman did tell me the car was taken by them to be serviced at the local McLaren dealer to leave the possibility of a warranty open. The radio silence makes me wonder if the response from McLaren was, yes we you can pay for a warranty but the car will need £X spent on it (disks as mentioned above perhaps?) beforehand and rather than come back and say that, they've made the decision to say nothing and wait for someone who's less bothered by a McLaren warranty or wouldn't want an inspection. Either way, it seems an odd way to sell an expensive car IMHO

I have a black spider with senna seats, if anyone has either a 458 spider (carbon race seats only) or a clean Murcielago I’d consider a deal?
As someone with a 458 spider (carbon seats) and a 570S spider who finds themselves mainly driving the 570 .... I'm intruiged to hear your reason to want to make the swap from the LT to 458?mako111 said:

Sold my 458, bloody awesome car, but kept my LT Spider, do prefer the latter as an overall package, but no denying the 458 Italia probably one of the most fun on the road modern supercars money can buy.Implus1 said:

it's me, not the car!! I'm normally chopping and changing between 5 cars keeping each only a few months and just want to buy a few things to hold for the long term. I think the 458 spider and murci are both undervalued tooThe 600lt is quite possibly the most fun and engaging car i've ever owned

Looking for my first McLaren after a few Lambo’s & Ferrari’s and am set on a 600LT spider but it seems there are literally only a handful for sale?!
I know it was a limited run but is 5-7 cars for sale at any one time the norm? Or can I expect more to come online as we get nearer to summer?
Of course anyone selling or thinking of selling do give me a shout directly!
I’ve just sold my Onyx black spider to Top555. They’ve just listed it today I believe. Carbon packs 1 and 2, just been serviced and extended warranty til May 25. Just under 6k miles. Extended Warranty is void if sold to a dealer isn’t it ???
Yes but it’s probably on SOR and as such log book no doubt still in the keepers name so as long as when point of sale is register to a private individual should maintain warranty. If the log book has changed and is now sold to a motor trader then warranty is lost.
It’s also why with a premium car or super car if the owner has an official warranty it’s always better to try selling privately first as that way as the seller you get more coin for your car and the buyer also gets a better deal too.
Don’t see much need for specialist resellers these days when cars have official warranties and there are plenty of finance options available to private individuals and
Normally at better rates too from likes of Lilian Stanley.
Yes you lose your protection and right to return a vehicle but if it’s got a warranty then in theory any issues would be resolved by that.
A follow up question relating to the above…
If a car is being sold through a specialist reseller but with eg 10 months warranty remaining, so presumably as described above, can that 10 months be extended mid-way to (eg) 2 years before it expires (so effectively being sold with a 2 year warranty) or would you have to buy the car with 10 months knowing you’d need to renew it yourself at the end of the period?
Obviously I appreciate it’s easier to negotiate warranty periods with an official dealer as you start with a clean slate.

If the ten months warranty is intact you renew it closer to the time or when McLaren have a deal on, not sure if you can buy a warranty ten months early though.

I know for cars under 5 years old the current discounts rates on a sport series is something like £2500 for one year and £4700 for two years. If it’s older than 5 years I think the prices go up around 10 percent.
McLaren seem to discount the warranties at random and there is always a good deal to be had around Nov/Dec at which point you’d have 3-4 months left and I think they can sell a warranty to be applied when current one runs out.
My two year warranty expires next March so I’ll buy another two year warranty towards end of this year when they hopefully have best deals on for Black Friday.

Gibbo205, Topboss says he’s sold it to Top555 so the extended Warranty will be null & void, which is a great loss as looks like it’s just been renewed, like you say I think best option is to sell privately with the warranty and it saves any messing on getting the car inspected to get the warranty back on it..If the log book has changed and is now sold to a motor trader then warranty is lost.

Not necessarily as that dealer can just ask the prev owner to transfer the warranty to a new owner once it’s sold ..I bought a 570s from Redline and they did this for me even tho car wasn’t on SoR.RSbandit said:

I can think of ways round it but that’s the “ official line” I’m quoting, I also think there’s a timeframe for this to happen ( a few weeks) so if the car doesn’t sell quick and McLaren look at changes in logbook ownerships like they probably should it would be picked up on,, I personally think it’s nonsense and anyone should be able to have the warranty transferred to them including an independent dealer..Edited by Davyt on Sunday 21st April 15:07
i'm also looking at 600LT spiders also so this thread saves me some hassle.
ive got the choice down to Gt4 RS and the 600LT.... i know the cars are in different performance brackets but the price is pretty similar and the basically new gt4 rs gives more confidence on the reliability side of things.
i REALLY like this car, this spec would be amazing with the exterior carbon packs https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202401316...
is their any buying guides for the spider? or least things i should be looking out for on these?

I didn’t see the car at Leeds when mine was in for a service last month but agree it does look well, would certainly look even better with a few external exposed carbon packs,, I’d consider a p/x on my Coupe for it but the problem being I’d probably need £20K to change even though mine is worth about the same, bit like throwing money away just to have the back window down and some wind in your hair,, hmmmmmm,,,,ive got the choice down to Gt4 RS and the 600LT.... i know the cars are in different performance brackets but the price is pretty similar and the basically new gt4 rs gives more confidence on the reliability side of things.
