I've had my 570 since 2018. It has been brilliant and extremely reliable. It's brilliant on the road and track. The only failure I've had had been an HVAC fan ballast. Part was ~$400US and since I do my own work, that was the cost.

Since I do my own work, servicing costs have been fluid/filter costs..... which have been minimal. Contrary to chatter, these cars are not difficult to work on. I have a factory MDS, which also makes life easy.

I think the reality is well maintained ones are reliable (known issues such as snapping springs etc aside). But sadly the reputation from social media is poor.

This thread is like trying to tempt someone to go on a roller coaster when they are scared. I really don't think a McLaren is for you. Suggest you buy a Toyota or Lexus smile

Get off the pot if you're not going to p1ss :haha:

Interesting response. I was hoping people would find this thread useful as there is so much negativity out there about the brand.

I fully intend to buy a 570s next year.

Regular maintenance. Make sure fluid levels are correct. Keep the car on a trickle charger. Drive the car regularly.

There's your recipe for not just a reliable McLaren.

I rarely use trickle charger on my car and didn't on the previous one either. Only bother if I know I won't use it for about a week.

Never caused an issue.

Trickle charger on a smart plug; timed on a schedule..
Also useful if you think it might need a bit and you're not at home..

I'm not sure why you'd want to add a smart plug as a CTEK or similar monitors the battery voltage and when it falls below a certain level charges it for a bit.

Because many people - including Thorney - say that if you don't do that, the McLaren battery system goes into sleep mode, stops charging and goes flat. Therefore they recommend stopping/restarting charging occasionally

In addition, my mindset is that would be the way in which the car would be used;

I didn't see this thread when it was current so apologies for being late. Glad you enjoyed the car.

I think the 570S is the best handling of all the McLarens I've owned, it was just chuckable and pinpoint like a classic light Sportscar. So much fun, all the time.
Yes the Super Sport trick suspension adds another level but on a Sunday morning B road the 570 is more engaging. Maybe that wouldn't be the case on a dry racing circuit or maybe I just can't drive!

It's definitely under powered though, I took mine to Thorney and lifted it to 650 bhp which just rounded the whole experience out.
