Because you can't afford millions but still want to embarrass supercars?
I can do that for much less money on race circuits. Playing silly buggers on our slow highways is not very sensible and can easily end in tears.jjwilde said:

They are hardly ever driven properly. But there was Caparo T1 at Snetterton which was incredibly quick. We GPS clock over 150mph in a junk saloon on Bentley Straight but this Caparo was doing over 180mph.
No way could I stay with that road legal thing. But I'm sure Tesla Roadster2 would make mincemeat of it

Hmm, a 110 mile NEDC range probably mean ~50 mile real-world for the longer range version. If they could sell it here for less than about £5k it'd probably find a market but I suspect it would end up being closer to £10k which would make it a very hard sell. That's assuming it can pass European type approval, of course.
It'd certainly be more than adequate if I wanted a simple, cheap commuter car.
It is bound to pass. O/T have you seen Chinese scaffolding ...It'd certainly be more than adequate if I wanted a simple, cheap commuter car.

Strange place this is.
Does 0-60 in sub 2 seconds, the quarter mile in sub NINE, for about the price of a nice 911.
But oh no! It's a Tesla! Too bad!
It's official - Tesla Roadster2 will break the outright road car lap record of 6:43.616 around the Nordschleife Does 0-60 in sub 2 seconds, the quarter mile in sub NINE, for about the price of a nice 911.

I've stopped posting on the other Tesla thread so I cannot be accused of spamming, so here I am
I think the Roadster 2 looks great and the specs are good and also it makes my heart feel happy as it has it goes back to the original Lotus version and is not like EVs being big and bloaty.
I really think Tesla should have got it out now, the reviews would be great, a halo product. For some reason put back to 2022
I think it would have done well on the Nurburgring. The Model S failed miserably and even with all the changes to it, so it was not really a road car, never quite got a lap in.
The new 3 motor Model S ... I am really looking forward to seeing what this does acceleration wise. Can people do sub 2s 0-60? That is rather stupendous for an old car designed a decade back
I think Dragtimes on a prepped strip and sticky tyres could hit a 1.8s 0-60s. That's getting into professional motorsports category

Interesting use of the words 'make' and 'does'
Agreed, but bigothunter was talking about the hypothetical of buying it so I went with that. In fact, bigothunter is making the case for them not producing it. After all, it's silly, unnecessary and worst of all... A Tesla. ZesPak said:

I think they're a good idea. Is you reduce the space a car takes up by 1/3rd then in a congested city in theory you can get 1/3rd more cars on any stretch of road.
If citrien ever uprated uprated Ami so it had a top speed if around 50 instead of 30 then it could well take off here.
I like the look of the MicroLino and would probably get one if they brought them over here.
