I agree but at the same time I don't think there will be a shortage of buyers for EV sports cars because I think the truth and reality was revealed when VW shoved a tractor engine into a TT and it sold like hot cakes. The same with VW sticking a wheezy, non performance diesel in their early Cayennes and it selling like hot cakes to the point that Porsche even worried that it's popularity was going to blow up the brand.

I think it's safe to hold the view that most sports cars are for show rather than how you or I might use one.
You're talking about practical everyday cars where the power train is far less important to many buyers. At £170k for a sportscar I'm of the opinion buyers will have rather different motivations.although there will of corse be a few posers and i could be wrong. smile

The thing is, you're not going to be tracking it, or heading off into the wilds randomly. But it's ideal for crawling into central London or a brief jaunt to the near countryside for lunch. No shortage of £200k cars being used for the latter.

Petrol still remains the only way at present to actually be sporty in a sports car.

A brief jaunt into the nearby countryside? It has a predicted range of over 300 miles. Even if it only does 2/3 of that driven enthusiastically, a 200 mile round trip is hardly keeping it local. My own Polestar does around 200 miles to a charge and I don’t exactly feel the need to constrain my journeys to brief jaunts.

I rented a Polestar 2 for the last week and put about 1,000 miles on it and a decent chunk of it was on roads where a sports car would have been brilliant. Polestar will need to do a lot of work on driver involvement to get up to the 200k class I think.

I do think they make very attractive cars which is a bit of a novelty in EV land. If they can add a bit of soul to the driving, they’ll be cracking cars.
