Journalists are driving them today at a press event. Yellow and Green cars on test.

So I think we can expect to see reviews soon.

Can't help but wish they gave it a bit more power. Still think Renault have smashed it out the park though.

The Alpine version will offer more power.

Been selling Renault for 20 years, I've never been more excited for a new model, I'm currently running a Megane E-Tech as my demo, this will be my new one, I cannot wait!

Renault are really buzzing at the moment. Wanted a Scenic E-Tech but couldn't get a suitable deal. Too new I think. Maybe in 3 years?

Interesting to see they are up 59% YOY. I left in April 2024 and it was brutal.

I haven’t really kept up with them since I left, but they seem to be selling cars.

Did you look at Carwow? I got my sister a quite on one, £3500 off + £2000 deposit contribution.

Main questions I am pondering:

- is it just a very very pretty Zoe? We’ve owned our Zoe for 3 years and it has been great but driving position and dynamics leave a lot to be desired

- Is it worth holding out for the A290, or is the R5 90% of the A290 for 70% of the cost?

You can only go by what's been written in the various reviews, but it seems that..

Q1. No, it looks to be a significant step forward as compared to a Zoe (and many other rivals).

Q2. Possibly, but it really depends on what you want from your car. The A290 will be a "warm" hatch, and the R5 doesn't appear to be that.

I would wager that the drivetrain is virtually identical to the ZOE, 52kwh battery, 150bhp (135bhp in ZOE) - hardly revolutionary numbers, virtually the same as what has been in ZOE since it was facelifted in 2019. Faster charging nicked from the Megane perhaps.....

Overall it's a great looking car, and for the pricing, it's competitive, but you could buy a 1 year old ZOE for half the price and is the R5 twice the car? Perhaps!

I read the question as relating to driving position and dynamics, and I think the reviews are quite clear on that. It's not going to be a Zoe.

I quite like the approach with the battery and power levels. They've kept in affordable, and there's no real need for anything lightning quick, even the Alpine won't be silly fast.

Watched that in Dutch, high praise in general. Even calls it a "lukewarm" hatch, with great dynamics.
Obviously limited in practicality by its form factor, but it seems like a winner to me.
If this would suit my OH at the moment it would definitely be on the short list.
