Today, a three hour demo with the car - which is truly excellent - prompted three interesting reactions, all in a nice way. Old school 110 driver (very tidy example in green) - thumbs up out the window. BMW M2 Competition (new version) - again, thumbs up. Lamborghini Urus, white, not pimped - admiring glance. All these within the first 30 minutes of collection.
3 hour test drive, you're lucky, obviously that dealer isn't too busy with the 5, for the next week we have 3-4 test drives each day in the 5, it's absolutely non stop with bookings well into the month, I'd never authorise a 3 hour test drive at this stage of launch.andrewpandrew said:
Saw my first R5 today. It was in yellow, with a union jack roof, which I thought was a bit off-brand. Good looking car though.
I thought you were joking....but apparently it's a thing.

Well, at least it's the right colours for the roof

Would be very odd if it was the same car, considering it was in a tiny village in the Holme Valley!
Cars2 Hudds were running their demo with the Union Jack roof (but that might actually be in Wakey now)...Does look a bit weird though, it's like some half-and-half scarf job at the footy

What’s the lead time on these? My lease on 5r Volvo runs out in July, so one of these would suit the Mrs down to the ground.
Yesterday, the dealer supplying my car said orders placed now likely be June/July.Had a test drive in one on Monday, was very keen, and it was pretty decent all round, but one annoying thing is just how cramped the rear seating is. It’s about as long as a 10 year old polo (shorter than a current polo), but the inside space and particularly the back is just so much smaller.
Fien with adults and baby seats, but even a decent size adult in the front ends up with the seat back nearly touching the rear seat squab, no foot room at all.
Just so frustrating, and I just can’t understand why they do a 4 door car that’s so good on everything else, funky, stylish, dynamic etc, but then not just make it an inch or so longer so you can actually get 4 decent size people in it!
Such a shame,it’s the only thing we didn’t like but it’s fairly fundamental. Unfortunately, I don’t like the looks of the new Renault 4 at all which may be bigger in the back.

The R5 has been around for over half a century now so it could be said that it's reasonable to expect it not to be particularly spacious in the rear - because it never has been... Honestly, what did you expect!? If you're looking for a plan B I hear the upcoming electric Range Rover has lay flat electric rear seats. It may possibly be in a different price and car class bracket though.
It's a cheap town car. You're definitely not supposed to use it to transport 4 decent sized adults in, because that's just weird
