went through the same thing this year - everyone had had enough of MRI so investigated all the other options and ended up with speedchills / speedferries. Agree MRI offer simplicity, a nice brochure and some good speakers... just be very wary and avoid their scamsters (last year one of our clan was having breakfast in their "hospitality" tent, part of which was orange juice (quantity unspecified) ended up being charged €6 for orange juice(!!) as they spied on him and charged every time he topped up the thimble sized (literally) cup. That was kind of the final straw for us... there is being tight and there is being a tw**

Not much chance of that only 2 of our group last year made it to the hospitality tent. I would have told them where to stick it

so to summarise:-
- MRI £231
- speedferries/chills £101

;-)

also Beausjour is very good for watching the night racing from Arnage / Indianapolis as they are in walking distance + is right by the Porsche curves. It also has showers that many sites do not.. and you can walk to the village without having to go through the chaos around the main entrance/grandstands(!)
Must say I do quite fancy doing something different next year, and SpeedChills is the main alternative I've spotted and from the look of their website they have the right atmosphere too...

we were with the speedchills boys last year, and like it so much, we are all going back this year!

Why cook your own brekkie when its readily available next door?

cold beer too!

i looked on the speedchills website yesterday, it looks good.

this is my first year, so i had a few questions, i e-mailed them and got a quick answer. if you haven't booked anything up yet, you can get the ferry crossing, camping, and entrance tickets (plus a few other bits) for £119 + membership (£20).

doesn't seem to bad really!!

We didn't book until April/May last year and managed to pick up a Houx camping ticket at face value. I think it cost us around £250 each for two of us in total including food and drink and that was with £150 ferry 'cos I grabbed what I could without doing the research, we could still have got it cheaper even that late.

I had to buy quite a lot of camping gear as we didn't have much but at least now we've got it although I've invested in a three way fridge for this year to deal with the warm beer problem!

With regard to the camping cost, the advertised cost confused me last year until i worked out that all you need to buy is a ticket for each vehicle not a ticket for each person. It's worth trawling back through last year's threads as these questions come up each year.
