Accuweather temperature is slowly rising but it does appear at this stage it will be a cooler and slightly cloudy year.

My cat asked to go out two minutes back. I opened the door, she stuck her nose out, did an about turn and went back to bed. That is a sensible cat based on the fact that it pisseth with a great pissing. Again. And it is forecast all day. Now that poses a problem; we are catching the ferry tonight to go to XK70. Which car do I take?

Is the XK70 parked up a mile away and your taking a ferry to it! I have a dingy here to get me to the toilet block on the campsite!

XK70 is an event being held at Shelsley Walsh hill climb. I am in Le Mans. I have to decide whether I take the "proper" car which is set up for the hill climb, my replica XKSS, or the E-type which has softer suspension. One has a decent hood and comfort, the other doesn't. I'll decide later on. If the rain eases, I'll get wet and take the correct car. If it continues to hammer down, it'll be the E-type. The UK weather is looking reasonable, so it is just the 120 miles from here to the ferry.

1st ever trip to Le Mans, so massively excited. It appears the weather at best will be unpredictable...added to the amount of rain currently failing can i expect a mud fest? Sorry if that's a stupid question, just have no idea what to expect

It depends on which campsite you're in really..

Some areas can be a litlte more soggy than others..

Bleu Nord, Bleu Sud are generally pretty good at remaning dry, Beausejour can be a little more moist..

I think you're due for heavier rain later. When are you travelling back? Sat, Sun and Mon look pretty wet in Le Mans too. It should be drying up from next Tuesday.

It's not raining at the moment so we are heading out for Caen soon. England seems pretty dry from Friday through Sunday and coming home on Monday I don't give a damn really. If I get home soaked I am soaked but I am at home. Lst time I did this I baled four litres of water out of the car and the seats took a week to dry. Ah, the fun of classic motoring!

Realistically as long as you can erect your tent in the dry then you can work around any rain (eg. drink beer indoors)

Can I ask where you're camping? We are off to Houx Annexe and weren't planning on packing the dinghy...

I am just north of Le Mans, it was a joke really! It’s very wet here some of the ground is soft and rivers are very high. There has been a lot of rain the last few days.

This'll be my 6th year on Bleu Nord and we've seen all sorts of weather, though BN has always been pretty good, except for a few patches where you get traffic on grass rather than surfaced areas. You'll have a great time.

I went to Beausejour in 2013 and there was a cloudburst on the Thurs when pitching the tent.. the car almost got stuck, and a number of people did need pushing out of ruts..
Went to Bleu Nord in 2016 and in a far worse rainstorm on Thursday the campsite was fine, although you had to avoid the puddles as some of them were pretty deep..
So long as you have a portable radio, headphones, and a rain jacket - you'll be fine...

As the old cliche goes.. It always rains at Le Mans..

Except when it tries to cook you..

Thanks - it's my sixth LM so well used to the pissing rain/baking sunshine etc etc but always nicer if it's dry at least (although perhaps not as 'dry' as last year)
