Just received an e-mail this morning from Speedchills stating that they're not doing "private" camping at Le Mans in 2019.

Myself and a group of friends have use Speedchills on a number of occasions - and their private camping set up was very good and getting better by the year. Something tells me that the costs of renting the land have become too much for them.

Would appreciate any pointers toward another tour operator/ camping specialist that runs private camping at Le Mans please.

Thanks very much

Mike

Thank you one and all.

Definitely up for Le Mans 2019. It's odd that as a grown man we get withdrawal symptoms from such gatherings/events.

(I said grown man - not grown up! )

Cheers

Didn't make it down last year and had serious withdrawal symptoms. Other half was not happy that I had the race on the TV all weekend instead. At least I am now booked in for 2019.

I'm just looking to get a view from those that know both campsites as to whether the viewing at Porsche curves is best from the Travel Destinations site or the Lycian events campsite.

Your thoughts much appreciated.

Over the years we have stayed at several of the campsites and Travel Destinations offer by far the best facility. The viewing area is 1st class, the campsite is quiet and full of what we thought were friendly and considerate people. Only complaint “ no cream for the coffee” We all have to make sacrifices.

You won’t regret it

Cheers Terry

Thanks for the quick response.

My understanding from looking on Beermountain is that Travel Destinations gives you a view down towards Arnage as well as the view of the cars taking the curve in front of you, as opposed to Lycian where you get a more side on view of the cars as they head into the first of the Porsche curves.

Can you confirm this is actually the case please?

Thanks

Andrew

Yes, that's quite correct. We stand on the far right hand side of the viewing bank, we can see the cars coming up from Arnage, the fast right hander as they pass us and then the left hander into the Porsche Curves.

It's a great location. The staff are super friendly and helpful, hospitality tent is great, food is good and reasonably priced and showers are clean and fresh.

Can see down towards Arnage from Lycian events at BSJ too - track kinks left and starts to curve curve left before Lycian events trackside but have to go 50 yards next door to high public banking for best view. There both great spots as look most of the way down to Arnage corner and get braking/lifting point and then accelerating into rest of Porsche curves ( and from high banking the cars are in clear view above netting).
