Anybody done the brooklands new years day event?

Thought I might give it a try in the classic Porsche or vintage lagonda if the weather is any good

Never been before so any advice about the event gratefully received.

Do you have to book in advance?

Last year was packed, sat in a traffic jam on-site for nearly an hour, just trying to get in. Staff did not cope with the volume of cars well.
However, lots of great cars and a good atmosphere there.

It's a great event. It does get very busy and takes a lot of running. Follow signage and check details on brooklands events website.

Blimey that's quite a queue. Not sure our vintage would handle all that stop start traffic very well.

Do you book in advance or pay on the day? Are the numbers limited? Website seems unclear on this.

Its actually my wife's car. It's a 2 litre low chassis.

Nice, I took mine to Brooklands for the Reunion (now called Brooklands Relived). It's a summer event with the chance for parade laps on Mercedes circuit, a few runs up the hill and race starts on the restored start line. It's especially for pre-war cars so no queues to get in.

The New Year's Day event is also good but probably preferable in a newer classic.

I have a classic and also a new corvette, would the corvette get in? Or is there an age limit?

When I last went ,a couple of years ago they had opened up a separate entrance for sports and super cars ,entering

through the public car park at the Heights.

If it's the same you should be okay.

ETA......it confirms what I said on their website......entrance through The Heights before midday.

First time at the New Years Gathering. Very impressive turn out, I wasn't expecting to park right at the far end of The Heights from the museum just 45mins after gates opened! Great to see.
