It's postponed!
Discussion
Just received an e-mail from the Tourist Office stating (as has mentioned here before) that as of May 15th (why only sending out the mail the 19th) you cannot get a refund on your tickets, only a credit counting towards next year. And that you have to apply for that credit May 28th latest.
So if I don't apply for that credit and keep my tickets for the September event, what will happen if between end of May and half of September the race gets moved again (or cancelled)? I definitely can not make to whatever date they decide to move it to.

First public road race I know of planning to run in September with social distancing- Ireland motorbike race:

I think I read somewhere that Gerard Neveau said there would be an update mid-June
They're bound to make some noise with the virtual 24hrs in mid June, but the only recent announcement I can find is"24 Hours of Le Mans - Discover the credit note process" (n.b. Do it by the end of May)
After that, the next milestones are:
- Mid July with the end of the ban of large scale events, which they may extend, and may limit numbers/close doors
- The Tour de France, postponed till the end of August, where the 2 metre social distancing will prove difficult in the Peleton
We've just transferred ours to 2021. I can't see it happening but as I'm classed as vulnerable even if it did happen in September I would not be comfortable going so have opted to transfer.
Miserable about missing my 10th time, especially as its original date is nearing and I'd usually be getting a bit excited by now, but if it does go ahead at least I can watch it. I will be jealous I'm not there though. And September would have been interesting.
Roll on 2021.

Todays No 10 (where is Boris?) press conference did imply that the initial panic's over and they're settling down to a very long game. Having said that, vaccines and treatments aren't that far away, so we could be much more comfortable by September, but you'd need a billion doses made by then, and its just not possible. Greece got it right - that virus hates fag smoke
Motorsport has also been left off the entry exceptions for professional athletes to the US as well, so yet another hurdle.
Saying that though, I can actually see the ACO not cancel until the very very last minute and then blame it on various Governments as Neveu has openly said that the race 'must happen...or small teams will fold'. In the same way as truncated ELMS, MLMC and WEC seasons, in front of empty stands (for ELMS, MLMC and to a lesser extent WEC, that won't be terribly much different unfortunately) and severely reduced extraneous paddock numbers are mooted, they as well won't be cancelled right up to the last minute. The plan is (or at least was) still to run Spa at the end of August, I just don't see how, although yes, it is still 3 months away.
I was working it out before the French announcement became news in the UK (it was announced there a week ago, apparently) and there is no way I can physically go to every race without breaking isolation rules, certainly in France and the UK.
One thing the ACO will need to look at though is the health protocol that SRO have released for running behind closed doors;

which includes the scope for consideration of mandatory disinfection of cars between driver stops. That'll be 'interesting'.

Le Mans 24 Helicopter lap rides. I spotted our group of tents on the 2018 vid but I wasn't there for 2013 or 2015 - I didn't start going until 2016. Enjoy!

Last time I looked into a lap in the chopper, I'm sure it was 70 Euros per person.
That could explain why I'm not so keen! but I see this one was during the race, which is good but needs complications like booking, and a long walk to the helipadGassing Station | Le Mans | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
