His XKSS is unbelievable. As is his E Type. I'm not a fan of E Types, don't get the hype, but his is something else. A lovely roadster.

I heard this too - brilliant. Surely it’s really safe being outdoors and all that plus vaccination rates up.
Less widely reported is the fact that he implied the nationality make up of permitted spectators would be largely French, maybe European, but definitely not worldwide. Post Brexit, we in the UK may no longer be deemed 'European' in this context and that if it's not a French only spectator event, only EU countries with health passports/permits similar to the French ones will be considered. It's not looking good for the Brits, even if it does go ahead with spectators.

Strange - especially from the 3rd highest vaccinated country in the world.

Guess our ability to attend from the UK will depend upon the fishing rights purveyed upon the French trawlers!

And just a reminder about things you cannot bring over since Brexit. No meat nor dairy products. Mind you, all meat was banned during the foot and mouth crisis and they never searched my car, so when a ship-load of rosbifs descend en masse I can't see them making people wait three hours to exit the port.

The good news is that any Brit over 30 should have both jabs by August, and those younger should have the first.

And good luck with XKSS, Lowdrag. I have an official XKSS T Shirt for Le Mans
I wondered who owned the XKSS. If it’s the same one I saw a few years back in the Super U. Stunning riveted bodywork!

Not the place really, and it may not have been mine. One never knows who has what these days, but I've had this one 20 years now. It may not even be the same colour. But here it is anyway.

A sound investment, and not one of the official copies if you've had it 20 years.

I'm curious as to why there is no badge on the bonnet. Had it been converted to a D type, and back again?

No, this was when I had it repainted in 2012 and they hadn't got around to putting the badge on! But so you can sleep at night.....

But, to confuse you more, I had the car registered in France in the end, and it is completely legal here and registered as a Lynx XKSS Replica. If the replica is over 30 years old - with proof - there are no problems. Anyway, if you see it again this is it:-

Sadly, years on, there is a paint reaction on the bonnet and a "worm" is working its way down the bonnet so this autumn that will have to be repainted again. Ah, the joys of classic motoring!

Such a stunning car. I hope to see it again in the not too distant future!

From an article in The Guardian:

EU plans to reopen to fully Covid-vaccinated foreign tourists from June.

Under the commission’s proposals, member states would allow travel into the EU of those people who had received, at least 14 days before arrival, the final dose of an authorised vaccine.

Even those who have not been fully vaccinated will be allowed into the EU if they are coming from a country with a “good epidemiological situation”.

A senior official said the UK could be added to the green list but that it would depend on a reciprocal willingness to open its borders to all EU citizens. “The figures for the UK are good,” the EU official said. “Those vaccinated in the UK will be eligible to travel to the EU but [we are are] mindful of other aspects: reciprocity. It is still a principle under this new recommendation.”

It going to be interesting planning to book for Le Mans this year. I am not going to want to book unless it appears that infection rates in France are relatively low, we are allowed to travel and there is no quarantine on the return to the UK.

Guess going to have to wait and see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

I will need to see confirmation that large events like this are going to be allowed to happen this year. That’s the biggest hurdle to overcome. Germany already announced Oktoberfest is cancelled this year so I don’t have high hopes of large events like this happening with spectators.

Our charity rally on 8th May was cancelled. I have several more in June, and today the rally on the 5th June also cancelled, quoting "impossible to eat the picnic lunch indoors of raining", "Cannot share a pen for controls" and so on. I have two more in June for the 60th of the E-type on 13/6 and another, the Grand Prix de Tours, later in the month. I am not expecting one of them to survive.
