2021 - Don't get too excited

There doesn't seem to be a great deal of interest in attending the race either? I'd assumed the much reduced number of tickets available would be snapped up quickly by the locals, but the ACO don't seem able to shift them, maybe the locals are keener on the "event' than the race?
The race was, in days of yore, always treated as a family outing, with picnics and plenty of wine, the kids playing together while parents chatted and watched the race. Many people here have recounted these lazy hazy days to me with a wistful smile. Increasing security, and restrictions - and a change of generational attitudes where many people don't even drive these days - has led to a lessening of interest, and yes, the economy is hurting, and badly. In town the other day quality restaurants are offering any main course from the menu for €10, and several bars I know are not even bothering to set up the usual awnings and BBQ's outside on the terrace. They know ticket sales are down, that the Brits are probably not coming, nor the Dutch or Germans, so why lay in kegs of beer and food that is just going to go to waste? And even worse neither are many marshals coming it seems so the race is going to be well undermanned. Which would indicate that this might just be a bargain event for those of you who have bitten the bullet and are coming. But I think that Mad Friday will probably be a damp squib. The weather has been foul (I had to park the car yesterday because the rain was so heavy driving was impossible) but it does seem that from Tuesday things are on the up and, while it is still two weeks away, the current prevision is 24C and sunny. In years to come you too will talk of "that year when we could move around with freedom and watching the race was a delight" so make the best of it. Arnage are putting on an event on the Friday I hear, but Mulsanne, Ruaudin, et al have shut up shop.At least it won't happen this year https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-58146039?fbc...

Just got some sort of clarity for my 15 year old from the ACO:
"Dear Sir,
Your 15 year old son does not need a PCR test as the sanitary passport is compulsory from 18 years old.
Thank you for your understanding.
Kind regards"
Many thanks for sharing this. It was my main concern too (my boys aged 13 and 15 usually come along). They changed this along the way, without much (any) communication, did they? Anyway, much relieved now. Thanks again. "Dear Sir,

Now the little matter of finding out where to download the (converted from last year) etickets that they promised me time and time again

You should call ACO they don’t make it clear that you have to request them then they will email your e-tickets!! Now the little matter of finding out where to download the (converted from last year) etickets that they promised me time and time again

Got mine printed yesterday. Log on to the Le Mans site, go to ticketing, login here, go to My Account, in here you should see orders, then within that you should see the e-tickets which can be downloaded and printed.
I know the title of the thread is 'Don't get too excited' - but can we get excited now?
I know I am starting to get that usual last minute buzz. I'm going on Sunday so have a few jobs to do on the car tomorrow (stickers, replace the plug leads, fill 'er up). Start to pack the car Fri, final bits on Sat and then up at the crack of sparrows on Sunday and away

Do I understand it right that you cant get in without test etc??
It isn't, as I understand "getting in" at all. I think it is cars parked up in the town square, that's all. I'll be there, weather permitting, with the XKSS if anyone wants to say hello, but I probably won't stay long. Static events bore me these days, but I have been asked to make an appearance. Around 11am I expect.Gassing Station | Le Mans | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
