From what I've seen most Z4s aren't dropping, although it may be worth avoiding 2.0 and 2.2 litre ones!

The bigger straight 6s seem to be holding up quite well, probably because a straight 6 two-seater has been fairly unique for quite a while!

Z4Ms are definitely on the rise - probably because Z3Ms are heading upwards quite noticeably.

I have had a tempting offer for the old (but perfect) E320 W124 convertible I bought a year ago. 60% more than I paid for it. I had meant to keep this car forever, but my mercenary genes are twitching...
To my mind, it depends on circumstance and if you’re going to want the car in the future. I made a similar decision that I was reminded of this afternoon.

When I moved back to the UK 4 years ago, I moved with my 911 and E36 M3 saloon. The 911 is a keeper (one previous owner; dreadful as a car but perfect for me) and the M3 is the best car I have ever owned…and got sold.

It got sold as it was going to be a third car (when I barely need one), live in London, I would have had to find garaging for it, maintain it, etc. I had always wanted an E36 M3 saloon, had run it for 2 ½ years & 15,000 miles, made it perfect (new OE suspension, new OE brakes, new brake lines, repainted the bumpers, new OE wheels, new exterior trim, hunted down an OE CD player etc) and well and truly scratched the itch of owning it.

So I sold it.

Your sales dilemma is very much in your mind as (whilst I grabbed a sandwich between meetings) earlier today, I saw that my old car was up for sale, nearly 4 years on…for considerably more (2 ½ time multiple more) than it was sold for in 2014.

Do I have any regrets at selling it? I always thought I would be fine if I saw the car come back on the market and, seeing it for sale again, I have no regrets. It was wonderful but in the intervening 4 years life has been busy and the car would have been a millstone more than a joy to me. I have barely used my 911 in these 4 years (4,400 miles) but for how I use a car I don’t need, it was the one to keep.

The A124 is a very special car…but I understand your temptation in taking the money…and it’s not my car so I don’t know what the right answer is.
