Anyone recently returned a car through Santander Finance? Hit the kerb quite badly in my Volvo S90 per pic attached. Its safe to drive according to several garages. Cost to replace is £150. Worth repairing or will the cost from Santander be most likely lower? Returning it in Feb.

You could make a tidy WBAC profit if the price being offered is right!
I hadn’t thought of that!It’s a 3 year old Audi A3 35 TFSI saloon
Gonna find out how much it’s worth and WBAC value
Edit - they want £20500 and WBCA is £17500

If it's not deep cut to the tyre, I would just super glue it. As per my previous post ages ago.Rscut said:
Wheel isn’t worth doing, tire will need replacing if they see it. I had 1 on my V90 but glued it, sanded it down and used some black boot polish and managed to avoid a charge.
I just handed a car back (Leaseplan) with very similar tyre damage, nothing mentioned after inspection.Nick_MSM said:

I’ll be getting my first lease tomorrow. I’m sure this has been asked before. I Wanted advice as to whether I should get maintenance and gap insurance.
The car is an Audi A3. 30tfsi. 3 year lease with 8k miles a year.
Maintenance is £20 a month and includes servicing and tyres. I think it’s long life servicing so am I right in thinking it would need just the 1 service over the 3 year lease. Am I likely going to need to change the tyres with approx 24k miles covered?
Is Gap insurance a must? Gap insurance is being offered for £220 by broker.
All advice appreciated. Thanks In advance.

Just swap the tyres front to back about halfway through the lease/expected mileage. Keep an eye on them to make sure they're not excessively wearing before that, but as long as you hand back with the tread depth being at or above the legal limit they can't charge you for anything.I’ll be getting my first lease tomorrow. If the car is on variable servicing, you will probably only need one service during the term. And if you can get it done at any garage, rather than only at a main dealer, then you should save some money on the servicing costs too - so you probably won't need the maintenance package but it's worth finding out what your expected servicing costs will be to make that judgment call.
Having had my lease recently written off 6 months in due to an idiot running a red light and smashing into me, I'd 100% recommend GAP insurance. Make sure you get one that covers your initial payment if you've got more than a 1+ term. I use gapinsurance.co.uk and they were simply amazing with dealing with my claim and I'm now on my third policy with them. There's usually a few 10% discount codes knocking about online/on various forums.
Just for reference, I paid about £120 for my 3 year policy covering up to £2k initial payment on a car valued up to about £34k. So although your broker is much cheaper than what a dealer would try to flog you, you're still better off shopping around.

I’m paying £900 upfront. I’ll give Audi a call to check what the servicing costs will be. Cars value is approx 30k. That sounds awful. Did you need to claim on the gap insurance? Wasn’t the pay out from the insurance enough to cover what the finance company wanted for the car?

There was an £1,850 shortfall between the insurance valuation and what I owed the leasing company, plus I got my £1,750 initial payment back. So yeah, definitely worth me spending the £120ish to get all that money back! That sounds awful. Did you need to claim on the gap insurance? It's like any insurance that isn't a legal requirement... You'll only be grateful when you actually need to rely on it.

I'd use ALA Gap, there's a code for 25% off - MSE25.That sounds awful. Did you need to claim on the gap insurance? Wasn’t the pay out from the insurance enough to cover what the finance company wanted for the car?
This is why I would never buy an x lease car...

I am currently looking at one but but pricing is all over the place so cant use the usual total payments as a percentage vs RRP or discounted RRP. The debate then is it 'better' to buy given the 0% finance deals they currently have and the ability to obtain a nice deposit contribution from VWFS.
PCP brings with it its additional costs. Desperation starting to creep in i feel!

Used ALA for my last 2 lease cars and just had a quote for my next one, well recommended.
