Could I ask who you used? I was ready to order the 450 L2 navi pan roof from Evan’s Halshaw but it’s gone up over £150 overnight 😱

I've just been offered a BMW i5 Touring e drive 40, M Sport Pro with met paint, with sun protection glass and tech pack.

3 + 23. £2256 + 23 x £752.22
10k pa.

No fees as via dealer, so amortised £19,557.

That's against a list of £84k, so around 23% or so.
That's on a stock car.
Use the brand new prices on autotrader to get a better sense of real life list/new value. £62,995 cheapest with metallic paint, all of a sudden that’s 31%.

Crazy money imo, but you might love the car.

I got mine last week its nice car, insurance was a nightmare to sort out, its the latest model so I thought had all the security fixes but for some reason loads of places wouldn't insure it, where as NX450h+ registered earlier in 2024 were fine. The comparison sites quote but when you click through to go to the insurer site its then declined. I'm nearly 50, max no claims, clean licence, live nice area car on drive but still ended up being thick end of a couple of grand to insure. I'm within the M25 though so may be that's the issue.
I actually applied via Evans Halshaw and right before signing the e-contracts checked insurance and found various insurers including my own wouldn't insure me, and those that would wanted double what I currently pay.

Then I found out it's 10k mile service intervals which is every 8 months for me, and that on the model I was going for there is only 1 tyre option on the entire market as they are runflat and not a popular size and £300+ a corner. All those costs wiped out any potential PHEV fuel saving so I'm back to looking at petrol and even diesel cars!

Evans Halshaw called me Wed 27th to say all deals had to be done by close of business that day for the other poster asking about this deal - it's gone now through them at that price, funder was Close Brothers.

Tesla Y RWD Long Range 10k miles 36mo £500 down is £468 / month on PCH from Tesla.
Leaseloco and Leasing.com are both showing nearly £100 more per month with the same duration and mileage.

Is there a catch that I am missing?
Total amount payable over the 3 years is £17,531 on those terms. It was a couple of grand less than that when they had a deal at the start of September (see page 698 on this thread), but I'm not sure if it was the same model with 373 mile range (I'm thinking it might've been a now discontinued model with 330 miles range). Can anyone who got one confirm?

They are definitely wanting to shift some units, as our SS scheme at work currently has them the same price as that, but obviously no deposit and all running costs except electricity included. It’s actually the same monthly cost as the single motor version on there.

Our SS scheme is more expensive than going directly. It does include all costs but also ties you in for the duration with an expensive break clause so I am tempted to go to the open market. Also, the SG Fleet (our provider) site says the Model Y is a 2022 model which further defeats the point of going with them.

Thinking of getting the Model Y for longer journeys and the cheap VW ID.3 57kW as the commuter. Although family are begging for an ID.Buzz vs Model Y but then I'd have two cars with low range which isn't fun

Who is your SS provider? My wife’s company uses salary plan and all they have available is the long range for £731pm. That’s at 48months and 6kpa mileage.

I got the standard range Y on the September deal, which was around £40 cheaper per month, but range is about 270. I'd probably have preferred the current deal as range is better and it has more power.

Happy to share my referral by PM, which gets you £500 off list - equates to a few quid off the monthlies.

The Financial Conduct Authority are getting it in the neck lately. They're clearly doing sweet FA to address profiteering by salary sacrifice companies, who also rake in the tax you've saved on top of their headline cost to you figure.

I'd never in a month of Sundays do it or even consider it as a personal lease.

It only works as a company car with a vat reg'd company paying the lease, which was the basis of my enquiry with them.

It's like £1850 + vat then £625 pcm + vat.

Agree on the overpricing of the RRP / list price.......

I preferred to just get the ICE competitor, I wouldn’t take the i5 unless pricing dropped to that of what the 5 series was, under or near £400 with VAT included on 9+23 10k. Personal was better for me also. The IX and i5 have come pretty close to the £400 pricing though where it can be justified to order. Back in the day rhe 7 series was £400 a month with a similar list price.

Agreed that the current long range Model Y with 370 miles range is worth the extra money versus the September deal. The question for anyone currently in the market for one is whether to wait and see what price the new Juniper model is, which I believe is due out imminently.

Has anyone had any issues with Carparison? I put an order and paid the processing fee mid October and nothing has been confirmed yet, apparently they’re still waiting for the bank to authorise the order.

Does it usually take this long? I was hoping for delivery before Xmas but I doubt that’s going to happen now, do I have a right to cancel and get a refund as it’s taking so long?

It's irrelevant to me as I'm retired but I'm curious - how come so many of these SS scenes start off with such a high price compared to the open market? Surely the whole point is that you get a comparable deal but save the income tax, so, you should be getting a much better deal? With the figures above (£731 vs £468) and ignoring initial payment for a moment, then for a 40% tax payer you're saving maybe £30 a month, whereas if you could SS against the £468 figure it really would be a great deal. What am I missing?

They’re ripping the arse out of it. Have a look at, for example, Tusker’s accounts.

Seems a reasonable deal, worth a look or is over 500hp really necessary?
Is 500bhp necessary? Hand in your Pistonheads card for even asking.

Next you’ll be asking if it’s necessary to dominate the stairs.

I ordered and paid the processing fee with them around 23rd October and got the car this week.

Insurance
Servicing
Maintenance
Tyres
Breakdown
BIK & VED applicable

^asides all this being included. You are paying for all the overheads of having a company middleman. I’d agree it’s still a bit high though.

I was thinking the same thing but at the end of the day do FCA really care? Nobody’s forced to buy from them. Admittedly Į don’t know the regulations very well so could be wrong.

As a side point, has anyone successfully haggled with an SS provider?
